SMOK Fit Kit

Eleaf’s iJust line has been one of the staples of vape pen starter kits since before I can remember. Their latest addition, the iJust 3 sees them increase the internal battery to a 3000mAh capacity, supporting a max output of 80W. It can also accommodate up to 25mm diameter atomizers.

It comes with a new and improved tank in the shape of the Ello Duro, which utilizes Eleaf’s new mesh coils.

Eleaf makes great starter kits and vape pens, so I’m certainly not expecting this one to be any different. But I have been proven wrong before….so let’s find out.

The Good

Good build quality, nice styling, can fit 25mm atomizers, includes a good tank with impressive coils.

The Bad

The LED indicator lights could be better, and the Ello Dura has quite a noisy airflow.

The Bottom Line

The iJust line by Eleaf has always been a dependable vape pen range tailored more toward the sub-ohm market. The iJust 3 adds to its arsenal with the ability to fit 25mm atomizers and even comes with a more than capable one in the form of the Ello Dura with its impressive mesh coils – A reliable and decent performing sub-ohm vape kit.

Design8.5
Eleaf iJust 3

Why it’s generally considered that most vape pens look alike, with their tubular designs, I really like what Eleaf have done here to make it stand out.

They’ve added just the right amount of engraving and styling to not only make it more pleasing to the eye, but also give it more grip.

The base, 510 connection and button also have some knurling to them to make it easier to handle.

Additionally, it comes in a host of more modern colors, with the obligatory black, silver and yes rainbow (or dazzling) also available. Each color also has its own engraved pattern on the tube.

Eleaf iJust 3

Style

The styling of the iJust 3 kit is quite pleasant, even with what I consider to be excessive knurling on the Ello Duro tank.

The tank and battery tube fit together seamlessly, and the Aztec style laser etching or engraving on each of the color tubes certainly gives it some character. Eleaf has also added some complementary patterns on the base and the 510 connector.

The hexagonal fire button also features some raised accents, which make it easy to feel with your fire finger, and is also fitting with the rest of the design of the device.

Eleaf iJust 3

Build Quality

The build quality of all the iJust pens has been excellent, but there’s something about the added weight of the internal battery and larger 25mm circumference, that just makes this device feel so solid.

The 510 connection seems stable and can accommodate 25mm atomizers with no overhang or gaps.

The fire button is perfectly clicky, with no rattle or play. It also has a gentle curve to it and is slightly raised from the device.

I do feel the LED lights used around the battery could’ve been of better quality or perhaps more substantial, as they are difficult to see.

The Ello Dura tank has good threading and smooth AFC ring with strong o-rings, so no complaints there.

Eleaf iJust 3

Portability

For a tubular device that can house 25mm atomizers and have a respectable 3000mAh internal battery, the iJust 3 kit is as compact and portable as it could be.

It measures in at 136mm tall (130.5mm for European version) and 25mm in diameter.

While you’ll certainly notice it in your pocket, Eleaf has still done a good job in keeping it relatively small.

Innovation

There’s no real innovation here with the iJust 3 battery or the Ello Dura tank, but Eleaf has tried to bring something new to the table in the form of their HW-N coils.

The coils boast an ‘all-new reimagined Net Coil and Multihole Coil systems, presenting an unprecedented vaping experience with ultra flavorful taste and huge clouds’.

Basically, it’s a mesh coil that heats a little faster – more on this later.

Features7.5
Eleaf iJust 3

The iJust 3 is really simple to use so the features of this device are relatively limited.

However, it does come with the typical circuit protection system to prevent over-charging, over-current and over-discharging of the battery.

That 3000mAh internal battery is also capable of outputting 80W, so it’s no slouch in the power department.

Operating

Clicking the fire button 5 times turns the device on and off, which is indicated by the flashing LED’s behind the fire button.

Then it’s just a case of hit the fire button when you want to vape – simple.

Eleaf iJust 3

Charging

The micro USB charge port is located at the top rear of the device, it also has it’s own dedicated LED indicator beneath the port to notify you when the device is charging.

The 3000mAh battery only supports 1Amp charging but does top up reasonably quickly. The iJust 3 also supports vape while charging.

LED Indicator

There is an LED light which goes around the outside of the battery to indicate remaining battery level when you fire.

  • Green = 100-60%
  • Orange = 59-30%
  • Blue = 29-10%
  • Flashing red = below 10%

While the indication levels are clean and simple, the light itself isn’t very visible. I would have much preferred Eleaf to make the whole button clear with lights behind or use larger LED’s rather than incredibly small ones around the outside.

Ello Dura Tank8.5
Eleaf iJust 3

The Ello Dura tank comes in two variants with a 6.5ml capacity bubble glass or a TPD/EU version with only a 2ml capacity.

The tank has 3 large airflow holes around the base which can be easily adjusted with the rather knurly AFC ring, which does move quite smoothly.

The tank features a slide to fill port and comes with two mesh coils at 0.15 and 0.2 ohms respectively.

Eleaf iJust 3

Refilling

The tank features a top-fill design where you slide the top cap to one side to reveal the fill port.

However, Eleaf has decided to add a membrane to the usual fill port which is supposed to prevent any leaking. In all honesty, I’ve never had an issue with leaking from this type of top fill system and find the membrane to be a bit of a nuisance. It also tore within a few fills anyway.

Thankfully they include a standard open port in the spares kit so you can quickly switch it out.

One slight issue I have with the top fill system is for larger and wider bottles it’s difficult to get the angle to put the bottlenose into the fill port, it can only be done by removing the drip tip which kind of defeats the object of a quick and easy system.

Eleaf iJust 3

Coils

The Ello Duro has 2 different mesh coils available.

However, Eleaf refers to them as either a net coil (HW-N) or multihole coil (HW-M).

The HW-N (net coil) is 0.2-ohm and the HW-M (multihole coil) is 0.15-ohm in resistance. Both are made from Kanthal although disappointingly there’s no indication of this either on the coil itself or in any of the packaging.

The HW-N has the finer course mesh amongst the two and does heat a little faster than the HW-M.

The Ello Dura is also compatible with any of Eleaf’s Ello coil range along with being compatible with Smok’s baby beast coils.

Performance8.7
Eleaf iJust 3

Eleaf claims the iJust 3 firing speed is just 25 milliseconds, which is incredibly fast especially for a vape pen.

I have to say it certainly is instant firing and quite noticeable compared to other such vape pens.

Battery life is what you’d expect from a 3000mAh battery, and I only really notcied a decrease in performance, when it dropped below 10%.

The bulk of the performance with this type of simple vape pen kit comes down to the tank and coils used.

Flavor

The flavor from the coils is precisely what you’d expect and on par with all over mesh sub-ohm coils I’ve tried recently, it’s very good.

It’s quite minimal, but I would say that because of the instant heating of the net coil HW-N the flavor is a little more pronounced. But you certainly will not be disappointed with either on the flavor front.

Eleaf iJust 3

Airflow

The Ello Dura tank is one of the airiest sub-ohm tanks I’ve tried – It is seriously airy.

Although, even with the 3 airflow holes wide open the coils still manage to give you great flavor, especially the HW-N which I think performs better with more airflow.

Unfortunately, with all that air comes quite a bit of noise, it is a loud one, and I know most airy sub-ohm tanks are nowadays, but this is a noticeably loud tank.

It’s definitely not suited to those that like a tamer and quieter restricted lung hit.

Verdict

Eleaf is renowned for making good starter kits and vape pens, and the iJust 3 kit is pretty much everything I expected it to be.

It has solid build quality, nice styling without being too gaudy or garish and really good performance.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a starter kit, it’s far too cloudy a vape for that. But it is an excellent sub-ohm vape kit, especially for those that prefer the tubular vape pen style.

Mesh coils are all the rage at the moment, and the Ello mesh coils are right up there. I was especially impressed with the performance of the HW-N.

If you consider the flavor, the clouds, the battery life and the price point of the iJust 3 kit, it is really good value.
