The Horizon Falcon 2 Tank is the latest edition to an already praised and popular tank range.
First, we had the original Falcon tank, which was a game-changer for sub-ohm tanks with its impressive stock coils, then we had a design tweak with the Falcon Resin — followed by the upgrades of the Falcon King and the Falcon Kit.
So what has Horizon done with the Falcon this time to make it worthy of the 2.0 name?
Firstly there seems to be a slightly modern update on the aesthetics of the tank, with sharper lines and accents, and a redesigned top cap.
There’s also an inner coil cover section, which not only adds to the overall look but plays a part in the coil installation — as this time, Horizon has redesigned the coils to be push-to-fit for easy use.
This does mean that the Falcon 2 will not work with existing coils. Enter the most intriguing part of the new kit, the newly designed Falcon coils.
Horizon has not only changed the externals of the coils but has also altered the coil structure inside. They have gone with a cone-shaped mesh remarkably similar to that of the OFRF nexMesh coils.
This is supposed to create a vapor tunnel where it compresses the vapor path at the top of the coil to deliver a more pronounced flavor.
There only seems to be one coil currently available, which is included in the kit. It is a 0.14-ohm resistance coil, which is rated at 70-75W and has the usual Horizon wicking of wood pulp and cotton.
The Horizon Falcon 2 is currently available in 5 colors: Carbon Black, Stainless Steel, Blue, Rose Gold, and Rainbow.
The new design on the Falcon coils by Horizon is going to be what makes or breaks this new sub-ohm tank.
The fact that they haven’t tried to do something completely new, but take design cues from the innovative OFRF nexMesh coils, should set them in good stead.
Horizontech is typically excellent with the performance of there coils, and I can’t see them releasing something that doesn’t deliver on performance. Just how good these coils are? well, we will have to wait and see.
As for the updates of the tank itself, there’s nothing drastic. But all the minimum design tweaks of push-to-fill top cap and push to fit coils do bring it up to speed with its competitors.
