Innokin has added another powerhouse to their Coolfire lineup with the PZPulse.

It’s an IP68-rated rugged pod designed to be both water and dust-resistant while maintaining a sleek and modern appearance.

The device features a 2400mAh internal battery and delivers up to 80W of power. It comes equipped with a vibrant 0.96″ TFT curved screen and includes both a manual slide-lock mechanism and adjustable wattage control.

The pod system boasts a generous 5.5ml capacity (2ml TPD version) and utilizes Innokin’s new PZP Max coil series.

The PZPulse ships with two coil options – a 0.2Ω rated for 60-80W and a 0.4Ω rated for 30-60W. It’s also compatible with the optional 0.6Ω coil (sold separately) rated for 18-23W.

The kit is available in five color options including Black, Gunmetal, Silver, Blue-Green, and Purple-Gradient.

Design & Build Quality

The Coolfire PZPulse sees Innokin bring a fresh take on their pod mod designs of old.

They usually stick to the sleek minimalist design. However, the Coolfire PZPulse seems to have taken inspiration from other pod mods on the market.

There’s a distinctive air of the Vaporesso Armour G series (we recently reviewed), along with the robustness of any of the Geekvape Aegis series.

The PZPulse strikes a good blend of industrial durability with a surprisingly refined styling.

The main chassis is crafted from a durable zinc alloy, while the front panel features a unique curved TFT screen protected by what appears to be a magnifying plastic cover. This gives the display a distinctive look, almost as if it’s floating beneath the surface.

The back panel incorporates a leather-textured insert with subtle PZPulse branding, adding both style and improved grip.

While there’s nothing particularly unique here, I do like the way Innokin has put it all together.

The PZPulse measures 119mm in height, 43.77mm in width, and 30.58mm in depth, making it slightly larger than your average pod device. But there’s a good reason for the extra bulk: it’s a 2400mAh battery.

One of the standout design features is the manual sliding lock switch positioned on the side of the device.

Again, it’s not something unique to Coolfire. But I really like the way Innokin has implemented it. It’s on the side of the device, is perfectly placed for easy thumb operation, and provides a satisfying tactile feel when engaged.

On the opposite side, you’ll find the Innokin branding tastefully embedded into the frame. The fire button protrudes just enough to be easily located by feel, while the adjustment buttons below the screen are appropriately sized and responsive.

There are no flashy orange accents (like with Vaporesso). Everything is a little more subdued and keeping with the color scheme of the device.

Speaking of color schemes. We have the Black, Blue-Green, and Silver variants for review.

I’m a fan of the traditional Black with its brown leather panel. The Blue-Green brings a little more fun and is more striking in person than our photos do it justice.

However, the Silver has more of a plasticky appearance and is easily my least favorite of the bunch.

Innokin has always been impressive with their build quality of devices, and the Coolfire PZPulse upholds this standard and then some.

The IP68 rating for such a device is great. Every port and connection point has been carefully engineered to prevent water and dust ingress. The USB-C charging port at the base features a rubber seal, and the overall construction feels incredibly solid.

There’s no rattling or loose components, even after several accidental drops during testing.

The 0.96″ TFT screen is bright and clear, though I found the display a touch small considering the device’s overall size. It shows all the essential information including battery percentage, wattage, resistance, and puff counter.

The screen’s curved design adds a premium touch, but it does tend to attract fingerprints more readily than a flat display.

The pod connection at the top is secure and utilizes strong magnets that snap the pod firmly into place with no wobble.

The airflow control ring sits at the top of the pod. It offers a smooth adjustment from a relatively tight draw to a fully open direct-lung hit. While the airflow control works well, I would have preferred slightly more resistance in the ring to prevent accidental adjustments.

Overall I feel Innokin could’ve taken a few more risks or unique design choices with the Coolfire PZPulse. That said, it’s a great-looking device with exceptional build quality.

Features

The Coolfire PZPulse comes packed with a solid feature set.

It’s powered by a 2400mAh battery and utilizes Innokin’s latest chipset. The chip supports 2A fast charging, with a full charge taking approximately 70 minutes.

The device features adjustable wattage with a range of 6-80W. Wattage adjustments can be made in 0.5W increments from 6-20W and 1W increments from 20-80W.

The chip also includes smart coil detection, automatically suggesting the optimal wattage range based on the installed coil.

The 0.96″ TFT curved screen displays all essential information in a clean layout. You’ll find your current wattage, battery percentage, coil resistance, voltage output, and a puff counter.

While the screen looks great, I do find the text a bit small for such a large device.

Navigation is straightforward with a simple menu system:

• Three clicks of the fire button to adjust wattage
• Press and hold both adjustment buttons to access the secondary menu (screen timeout and cut-off time settings)
• Press fire button and ‘+’ button together to view device info and reset puff counter

The standout feature has to be the manual sliding lock switch. It’s well-implemented and far more convenient than the traditional 5-click lock method. When engaged, it completely locks out all buttons to prevent accidental activation.

The final feature is the IP68 rating. Sometimes this can just be marketing speak, but based on its build quality, I’m sure the PZPulse will hold up well. Though I wouldn’t recommend deliberately testing these limits, it’s nice to have the peace of mind.

Pods/Coils

The PZPulse utilizes Innokin’s new PZP Max coil series, which delivers impressive performance across their entire range.

The kit comes with two options – a 0.4Ω coil pre-installed and a 0.2Ω coil as a spare.

There’s also an optional 0.6Ω coil available separately for those who prefer a more restricted vape.

Here’s the complete PZP Max coil lineup and their specifications:

• 0.2Ω coil: Rated for 60-80W, ideal for direct-lung vaping and max clouds
• 0.4Ω coil: Rated for 30-60W, perfect for restricted direct-lung vaping
• 0.6Ω coil: Rated for 18-23W, suited for a looser MTL to restricted DL draw

The pods feature a generous 5.5ml capacity (2ml for TPD versions), which is great for a device of this size.

The fill port is located on the front side of the pod and is sealed with a large rubber plug. It’s easy to access and feels secure.

The fill hole is large enough to accommodate most e-liquid bottle nozzles without making a mess.

The pods are very tinted. I appreciate that this keeps everything looking sleek. But I do find it hard to see my juice level, especially in dim light.

The airflow control system is integrated into the top of the pod. It’s smooth and effective, offering a decent range of adjustments. However, even with the airflow fully restricted, I found it a bit too airy for a proper MTL vape.

I’m sure I saw somewhere online that there might be some MTL-specific pods later down the line. However there’s nothing on Innokin’s website to suggest so….so don’t hold me to that.

The drip tip on the pod is a 510 and is removable. It’s a regular mouthpiece that’s ideal for DL vaping. Again MTL users, might find it too wide and will want something narrower.

Coil longevity appears to be excellent.During my testing, I ran about 60ml of e-liquid through the 0.4Ω coil without any noticeable drop in flavor or performance. The coils handle both 70/30 and 50/50 VG/PG ratios without any wicking issues, and I experienced zero leaking throughout the testing period.

Performance

The Coolfire PZPulse truly shines in its performance, especially when it comes to direct-lung and restricted direct-lung vaping.

I extensively tested all three coil options with various e-liquids to get a complete picture of what this device can deliver.

Starting with the 0.2Ω coil, I was immediately impressed by its vapor production and flavor intensity. Running it at 65W with the airflow wide open provided a perfect balance of warmth and flavor with my 70/30 fruit e-liquid. You can push it to the full 80W, but I found the sweet spot around 65-70W for a more comfortable vape without sacrificing flavor quality.

The pre-installed 0.4Ω coil quickly became my favorite of the bunch. At 45W with the airflow about halfway closed, it delivers an incredibly satisfying restricted direct-lung vape. The flavor is exceptionally clean and pronounced, especially with dessert e-liquids. It’s also more efficient with battery life compared to the 0.2Ω coil.

I also tested the optional 0.6Ω coil, which Innokin markets for MTL vaping. However, like many pod devices trying to do both, it falls short in delivering a true MTL experience. Even with the airflow fully restricted, the draw is still too loose for traditional MTL vaping. That said, it performs well as a very restricted DL coil at around 22W.

The device fires instantly with zero delay, and the power delivery feels consistent throughout the battery life. I was particularly impressed by how cool the device remains even during extended vaping sessions at higher wattages.

Battery Life & Charging

The 2400mAh internal battery provides impressive longevity. With the 0.4Ω coil at 45W, I easily got through a full day of moderate to heavy vaping (about 5-8ml of e-liquid). However, when using the 0.2Ω coil at higher wattages, you’ll notice the battery drain more quickly – expect around 6-7 hours of regular use.

Charging is handled via USB-C with 2A quick charging capability. Innokin claims it can charge up to 80% an hour. I got a full charge in around 70 minutes – which I think is pretty decent for a device this size.

The clear battery percentage indicator on the display is a welcome touch. I did notice the device gets slightly warm during charging, but nothing concerning.

Verdict

The Innokin Coolfire PZPulse is an impressive addition to the pod mod market, particularly for those who prioritize durability and direct-lung vaping performance.

While it’s larger than your typical pod device, the extra bulk is justified by its robust build quality, genuine IP68 rating, and substantial 2400mAh battery capacity.

Where this device truly excels is in its flavor production and versatility within the DL and RDL range. Both the 0.2Ω and 0.4Ω coils deliver exceptional flavor, while the coil longevity surpassed my expectations.

However, if you’re primarily an MTL vaper, you might want to look elsewhere – even with the 0.6Ω coil, the airflow system just isn’t designed for a satisfying tight draw.

While the Coolfire PZPulse may not be perfect – with its larger size and limited MTL capabilities – it excels at what it’s primarily designed for: delivering a satisfying direct-lung vaping experience in a tough, well-built package.
