After a few weeks of full usage by the whole Vaping Vibe team, we present our complete review of this tidy little mod, the eVic Primo Mini Kit.

The eVic Primo Mini 80W mod has been a much bigger hit among the Vaping Vibe team than we ever imagined it would. While there is nothing inherently innovative or groundbreaking about this kit, it does have some great features that make it a standout single 18650 kit.

The Primo Mini features never seen before 1.3” OLED display, and is paired with the new ProCore Aries sub-ohm tank, the first sub-ohm from Joyetech that we all agree is a fantastic little tank. It’s not perfect, but there is plenty to love about the eVic Primo Mini kit.

The eVic Primo Mini mod measures in at a slight 25 x 39 x 75.5mm (1.5” x 2.3” x 4.6”). While the ProCore Aeries tank is attached, it increases to 127.5mm (7.8”) in height. Diminutive yes, but it is somewhat taller than some of its competitors like the Smok AL85 or the iStick Pico, which means I’m not sure you’d exactly call it a ‘mini mod.’ However, the Primo Mini is extremely light and contours perfectly to the hand, while remaining sturdy and well-built.

The oversized Fire Button on the front of eVic Primo Mini is a joy to use, nearly flush yet very reactive. There is a simple, yet well made battery door on the bottom of the mod. Replacing a single 18650 is a simple matter of releasing the latch on the bottom, and slipping in a new one. While we will always encourage charging your batteries with an external charger, it is interesting to note that the Primo Mini has 2A charging on board. This could be a welcome inclusion for many, when out and about. Although, I did notice it getting a little hot while fast charging.

The Primo Mini comes in several different colorful finishes, including Silver/black, Red/black, Yellow/black, Dark Blue/black and Black/black. The ProCore Aeries sub-ohm tank comes color matched with whichever mod you choose. I think all of them look great, and it’s good to see a variety of choice.

The eVic Primo Mini has an output range of 1W to 80W, and a resistance range of 0.05Ω to 1.5Ω for Temp Control and TCR modes, and 0.1Ω to 3.5Ω for wattage and ByPass modes. The maximum amperage output is 25A.

In Temp Control mode, you have access to all the usual material types, Pure Nickel (Ni200), Titanium (Ti) and Stainless Steel 316, (SS316). Along with 3 TCR memory settings so you can set your own values. Temperature range is also the standard 200-600 degrees Fahrenheit. It performs really well in TC mode, with a nice steady even vape.

While most may stick with the ProCore Aeries tank when using the eVic Primo Mini, the 510 connector is good and can accommodate just about any tank. Another major plus is it can fit tanks up to 25mm in diameter. I used my OBS Engine Nano on top, and it worked well and looked great.

The ProCore Aries sub-ohm tank featured in the Kit comes in 2 capacity sizes. A 2ml (TPD compliant) and a 4ml version, when using the larger glass tube. It has a well-designed flip-top fill system that has held up well through all our heavy usage. Before receiving the tank I was a little skeptical of the dependability of the flip-top design, but after running it through its paces, it is definitely durable.

The kit comes with two premade coil heads; the ProC1 and ProC1-S. The ProC1 is a 0.4Ω head has a large diameter internal coil, with a wattage range of 40-80W and is built for direct-to-lung vaping. While the ProC1-S has a lower resistance of 0.25Ω, and a smaller coil diameter, which makes for a much tighter mouth-to-lung draw, and has a wattage range of only 25-35W.

Further optional coil heads are available, which include three alternative direct -to-lung coil heads; the ProC2 at 0.15Ω (30W-70W), the ProC3 at 0.2Ω (40W-130W), and the ProC4 at 0.15Ω (50-110W). At the time of this review we have not had the chance to test optional coils, but based on the performance of the ProC1, we reckon these coils will perform well.

The ProCore Aries sub-ohm tanks also include a wide-bore Delrin Drip Tip to help with heat dissipation at higher wattage settings.

So know you have a sense of what the eVic Primo Mini looks like, and a run down of the features and some of the specs. But, what can you expect if you purchase one, and how does it perform?

Well, even after putting in more than 200 hours of usage combined from the whole Vaping Vibe team, we can’t really find much, if any, fault with how Joyetech developed the Primo Mini.

While holding the eVic Primo Mini in either hand, your index finger will fall naturally to the large Fire Button, and its smooth curved edges make it one of the most comfortable small 18650 mods I’ve ever used. The huge 1.3” OLED display is simply amazing and the slightly curved glass front and large fonts make it great to look at and see your settings. The two adjustment buttons beneath the display are inset for well-protected fit. All of the buttons responsiveness is excellent.

The full Kit includes a Direct Lung ProC and an MTL ProC1 coil. This is another great move by Joyetech, making it appeal to all types of vapers. The life of the ProC coils has been very good, and I think there is such a good selection of coils, that Joyetech can satisfy any type of vapers style, which is great.

Overall, we all genuinely liked the eVic Primo Mini mod and ProCore Aeries tank. I even liked it so much that the mod has now become my go to pocket-friendly device, and it also currently sits at the top of our single 18650 best box mods. The tank is also a solid performer, and if you prefer stock coils over RTA’s or RDA’s, you will not be disappointed in the ProC range.

While there is nothing earth shattering going on here, the eVic Primo Mini kit is a great little setup; one of the best and affordable on the market right now. We think Joyetech have done a great job here, especially with the eVic Primo mini mod.
