Product Description

Right, so the OXVA SlimStick X caught my attention the moment I heard about it. After reviewing the original Slimstick – that brilliant prefilled cigarette-style pod system with its monstrous 1500mAh battery – I was genuinely curious to see what OXVA would do with a refillable version. Because that’s exactly what the SlimStick X is: the same slim, cigarette-inspired form factor, but this time you’re filling it yourself.

And honestly? The concept makes a lot of sense. The original Slimstick was laser-focused on simplicity for smokers making the switch. The X takes that same philosophy and opens it up slightly – you still get the no-buttons, draw-activated simplicity, but now you’ve got the freedom to run any e-liquid you like through it. It’s a subtle but meaningful evolution.

What you’re getting is a 1400mAh battery packed into that same slender aluminum alloy body, a 2ml top-fill pod with a 1.0Ω coil, and that distinctive cigarette-shaped mouthpiece the original made famous. No screen, no buttons, no faff. Just fill it up, insert the pod, and inhale.

OXVA are clearly doubling down on their mission to build genuinely approachable devices for smokers, and the SlimStick X feels like the natural next step in that journey.

Design & Build Quality

The SlimStick X (like its predecessor) is genuinely one of the best-built cigarette-style devices I’ve held in quite some time.

At 55g, it’s got a lovely heft that screams quality without feeling like a handful. The entire body is a single piece of aluminum alloy with smooth, curved edges and a soft matte finish that’s impressively resistant to fingerprints – a small thing, but one of those details that separates a device that feels considered from one that doesn’t.

At 90 x 14 x 32mm, it’s slim enough to genuinely disappear in your pocket yet substantial enough that you don’t feel like you’re vaping on a toothpick.

OXVA has kept the design beautifully minimal – no unique textures or flashy panels, just clean lines and subtle branding running down one side. About two-thirds down the body sits a small rectangular LED indicator window: green when you’re at 20-100% battery, flipping to red for that final 20%. It’s positioned perfectly so you can glance at it naturally while vaping.

My only gripe here is that a three-stage indicator would be far more useful – green could mean anywhere from 21% to full, which isn’t particularly informative when you’re trying to gauge whether you’ve got enough charge for the day.

The refillable pod is where things differ from the original Slimstick, and OXVA has handled the transition well. Rather than the color-coded prefilled cartridges of its sibling, you get a clear pod with a large rubber plug on top for filling – simple, clean, and genuinely foolproof. There’s an e-liquid window so you can keep an eye on your levels, which is a practical touch.

One thing worth knowing: the pod only inserts in one orientation, with the mouthpiece sitting opposite the e-liquid window. Get it right and you’ll feel a satisfying haptic vibration confirming you’re good to go. Get it wrong and there’ll be a visible gap between pod and device – it’s hard to miss.

The mouthpiece itself is a highlight. That long, narrow cylinder is unmistakably cigarette-shaped – clearly intentional, and genuinely effective at giving the device its cigarette-like feel.

The Type-C charging port sits at the bottom of the device, and as with the original Slimstick, no cable is included in the box – though at this point, everyone’s got a Type-C cable knocking about.

Build quality-wise, I’ve been properly impressed. The seams are tight, the matte finish is smooth with no rough edges, and everything feels carefully assembled. If I’m being picky, the lack of texture means it can be a touch slippery if your hands are damp. But that’s a minor niggle in what is otherwise an exceptionally well put-together device.

Features

There’s not a great deal to cover here, and that’s rather the point. The SlimStick X is a device that wears its simplicity as a badge of honour. Draw-activated firing means there’s no button to press, no wattage to fiddle with, and nothing to accidentally activate in your pocket. You inhale, it fires. That’s the entirety of the user interface, and for the target audience, that’s absolutely the right call.

The top-fill system deserves a mention for how well it’s been executed. Flip open the rubber plug, fill up, close it, and you’re done. It takes seconds and there’s virtually no opportunity to make a mess.

The haptic feedback is a genuinely useful touch too – a small vibration confirms the pod is seated correctly, and the LED flashes to signal the device is ready to go. It sounds minor, but for someone brand new to vaping, that kind of immediate confirmation removes a surprising amount of uncertainty.

Beyond that, the LED battery indicator and Type-C charging round things off. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything you actually need – executed cleanly and reliably. Sometimes less really is more.

Pods/Coils

At the time of writing, the SlimStick X comes with a single pod option: a 2ml refillable pod running a 1.0 ohm coil – likely a single mesh. It’s a sensible choice for the target audience, delivering a warm, restricted MTL draw that will feel immediately familiar to anyone coming from cigarettes.

That said, I’d love to see OXVA introduce a lower-resistance option down the line for vapers who prefer a bit more punch and warmth to their hit.

The pod itself is well designed. The large rubber plug on top makes filling genuinely simple – no fiddly side ports or awkward angles, just flip it open, fill up, and close it again. The e-liquid window on the device is a practical addition that lets you keep tabs on your levels at a glance.

As mentioned in the Design section, the pod only seats correctly in one orientation, but the haptic feedback makes it immediately obvious when you’ve got it right.

One thing worth flagging: in early use I noticed some e-liquid pooling in the mouthpiece, occasionally making its way onto my lips. It’s not unusual for pod vapes to produce a bit of condensation, but this was a step beyond that – liquid visibly collecting in the narrow cylinder. The good news is it largely sorted itself out after a few fills, settling down to normal levels of condensation. A minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but worth knowing about if you’re buying one fresh out of the box.

Longevity-wise, the pod holds up well. Performance remained consistent well beyond the first fill, with no noticeable drop-off in flavour or vapour production after extended use. The 2ml capacity is on the smaller side – something that feels increasingly dated in 2026 – but for a device this slim, it’s a reasonable compromise.

Performance

I’ve been living with the SlimStick X for a few weeks now, running it through its paces with a couple of very different e-liquids – fruity nic salts and complex freebase blends, both 50/50 VG/PG. Here’s how it held up.

The MTL Draw

The airflow is fixed – no adjustment, no fiddling – and it delivers a tight, restricted MTL draw that genuinely nails the cigarette-like feel OXVA are clearly going for. For anyone making the switch from smoking, this is going to feel immediately natural. Some vapers will bristle at the lack of adjustability, but I’d argue that for this device’s intended audience, a single perfectly calibrated setting is far more useful than a dial nobody knows how to set.

The 1.0Ω coil produces a decent amount of warmth – not the punchiest hit you’ll find in a pod vape, and experienced vapers used to higher-powered devices will notice that. But it’s smooth, approachable, and more than satisfying for its target audience. Vapor production is discreet and cloud-conscious vapers needn’t apply, but for an MTL device aimed squarely at smokers, it’s exactly right.

Flavour

This is where the SlimStick X genuinely impressed me. OXVA have built a strong reputation for flavourful pods across their range, and that pedigree shows here. Even the complex e-liquid blends I tested came through clearly and faithfully – bright top notes and subtler low notes represented equally well.

It doesn’t quite reach the heights of the XLIM or NeXLIM lines, but it absolutely feels like it belongs in the same family. For a device at this price point, that’s a genuinely impressive result.

Consistency is solid too. I didn’t notice any meaningful drop-off in flavour quality over multiple fills, and the draw activation is instant and reliable every single time. No delay, no misfires.

Battery Life

That 1400mAh battery is seriously impressive for a device this slim. In real-world use, I’ve been comfortably getting through 2-3 days on a single charge. For a new vaper worried about running dry at an inconvenient moment, that kind of all-day reliability is genuinely reassuring.

Charging is 1A via Type-C, which means a full top-up takes roughly an hour. It’s not fast charging, but I’d take a big battery over a quick charge any day of the week – and given you’re only plugging in once a day, the hour wait is barely an inconvenience. Plug it in before bed and it’s sorted.

Pros

  • Premium aluminum alloy construction
  • Slim, pocket-friendly design
  • Perfect cigarette-like MTL draw
  • Impressive 1400mAh battery life
  • Excellent flavor for the price
  • Simple, foolproof top-fill system

Cons

  • No adjustable airflow or wattage
  • Only one pod included in the kit
  • Mouthpiece pooling in early use
  • Two-stage LED indicator lacks precision
  • Only one pod/coil resistance currently available

Verdict

The OXVA SlimStick X does exactly what it sets out to do, and it does it well. It takes everything that made the original Slimstick such a compelling gateway device – the premium build, the cigarette-like draw, the impressive battery – and adds the freedom of a refillable pod. For smokers making the switch who want more than just a disposable but aren’t ready to dive into the deep end of vaping, this hits a genuinely sweet spot.

The niggles are real but minor. The mouthpiece pooling sorts itself out, the two-stage LED is a missed opportunity, and the 2ml capacity is starting to feel a little behind the times. But none of these are dealbreakers – not for a device at this price point that looks this good and performs this consistently.

Who should buy this? Smokers looking to make the switch who want something refined and fuss-free. Vapers after a slim, reliable all-day carry that won’t embarrass them at a dinner table. Anyone who found the original Slimstick appealing but wanted the flexibility of their own e-liquid.

Who should look elsewhere? If you want adjustable airflow, a punchier hit, or a larger tank, there are better options out there (especially ones from OXVA). But if simplicity, build quality, and all-day battery life are your priorities – the SlimStick X is well worth your attention.
