OXVA VPRIME Review

Design & Build Quality

The OXVA VPrime is a chunky pod system that makes no apologies for its size. Measuring 37.8 x 23.5 x 105.5mm, it’s noticeably larger than typical pod vapes, but the curved edges and smooth contours make it comfortable to hold.

The device’s construction pairs a zinc alloy frame with either leather-textured panels or glossy patterned finishes.

Our review units were the Natural Green and the Glorious Gold, which have the pattern finishes. So, I can’t speak to how good the leather panels would be on the other variants.

But i’m more than happy with the finish of these two against daily use and pocket carry.

The front of the VPrime houses a bright 0.96-inch color display, fire button, and an LED light strip.

The screen is vibrant and easily readable, displaying essential information like wattage, battery percentage, resistance, and puff count. You can choose between three display themes – though I found the default “Cosmic Journey” theme to be the most practical for quick information viewing.

On the right side, you’ll find the airflow control slider. It’s well-positioned for thumb adjustment and stays firmly in place once set. The left side features the adjustment buttons in a unified design – the top half increases wattage while the bottom decreases it. These buttons are responsive and have a satisfying click.

The USB-C port is located on the base of the device, and while functional, I would have preferred to see some form of protective covering or rubber base similar to what we find on other modern pod systems.

The pod connection is good, it’s strong enough to hold the pod securely but not so strong that it’s difficult to remove. The pods snap into place with a satisfying click and there’s no excess wiggle.

Overall, the VPrime’s build quality is exceptional. At 116g, it has a premium heft without being cumbersome. While some might find it bulky compared to standard pod systems, the size is justified by its high-power capabilities and substantial battery capacity.

OXVA VPRIME Features

Features

The VPrime has all the necessary features for a high-powered pod vape.

Speaking of high power, its 2600mAh internal battery is what contributes to its size, but it is more than ample for its capabilities. It also supports 2A fast charging through its USB-C port.

The VPrime can output some serious power for a pod, with an adjustable range of 5-60W. It also has smart coil detection that automatically sets recommended wattage based on the installed pod.

It also features both a fire button and auto-draw activation, which is not something we typically see on large pod devices. However, I did get some mixed results with the airflow wide open for draw activation..more on this later.

The airflow is fully adjustable through a slider. You can go from MTL to open DL with the slider. However, don’t expect to get a tight MTL draw with the included pods.

The 0.96-inch color display on the VPrime is great. It’s bright and clear and shows your battery percentage, wattage, resistance, and puff count.

OXVA has tried to make the VPrime a little more fun with 3 included themes for the display

Three display themes are available: Cosmic Journey (standard theme), Space Boy (astronaut animation), and Rocket Launch.

It’s great if you like that kind of thing, but they are a bit out there for my liking. The Cosmic Journey is the best and easiest on the eye with data.

OXVA VPRIME LED light strip

There’s also an LED light strip beneath the screen that indicates battery status – green (60-100%), blue (20-60%), and red (below 20%).

Operating the VPrime is pretty straightforward:

  • Power on/off: 5 clicks of fire button
  • Adjust wattage: Press fire button 3 times
  • Lock fire button: Hold +/- buttons simultaneously
  • Access menu: Double click fire button
  • Reset puff counter: Through menu system

It’s worth noting that while you can lock the fire button, it doesn’t lock the adjustment buttons, which is a shame. So you still need to be careful when you don’t make accidental adjustments when the VPrime is in your pocket.

You can also adjust the LED light strip in the menu, and deactivate it if you want, which is great.

The VPrime comes with all the safety features you’d expect including short-circuit protection, low battery warning, 8-second cutoff, and temperature protection.

OXVA VPRIME Pods

Pods/Coils

The VPrime uses fixed-coil pod cartridges with a large 5ml capacity (2ml TPD version).

The kit includes two pods:

  • 0.2Ω for DL vaping (45-60W)
  • 0.6Ω for RDL use (20-25W).

There’s also a 0.4Ω pod available separately, and a 0.8Ω MTL version announced for future release.

Pod compatibility breakdown:

  • 0.2Ω pod: 45-60W, ideal for DL with 70/30 VG/PG
  • 0.6Ω pod: 20-25W, suited for RDL with 50/50 or 70/30
  • 0.4Ω pod: 26-32W, balanced option (sold separately)
  • 0.8Ω pod: MTL option (upcoming release)

All pods utilize OXVA’s Unitech 2.0 coil technology. This features a five-layer cotton design for improved wicking and flavor, and leak prevention.

The pods have a side-fill system with a rubber plug similar to that of the XLIM pods. While not truly top-fill as marketed, it does allow for easy filling without removing the pod.

I really like the mouthpiece design on the pods. It is slim and rounded, with a wide bore that suits DL vaping.

OXVA VPRIME Pods

While the pods have a tint to them, it’s still really easy to see your juice level, which I appreciate. They also hold perfectly inside the device with no wobble of play.

During testing, the pods showed impressive coil longevity with minimal flavor drop-off (more on flavor in a bit). The anti-leak design proved effective, with no noticeable leaking or condensation issues.

OXVA VPRIME Performance

Performance

Let’s cut to the chase. The VPrime impressed me so much with its performance that I think it’s probably become my favorite DL pod vape on the market.

The flavor from both pods is exceptional. As good as anything OXVA has produced (and they know a thing or two about producing great flavor pods).

However, it isn’t all plain sailing for the VPrime. Here’s my experience with each pod.

The 0.2Ω pod, tested with 70/30 VG/PG e-liquid at 55W, delivers exceptional flavor clarity and satisfying vapor production. The sweet spot sits between 50-55W, offering a warm, dense vape without any harsh notes.

However, with this 0.2Ω pod, the auto-draw activation can be a little spotty. Especially with the airflow wide open.

I know with so much airflow and DL, it’s hard to get auto-draw triggers to be consistent so that i won’t hold that against OXVA. And if you inhale hard, it does work, but I just reverted to using the fire button…which is fine.

That being said, the airflow on the VPrime is super smooth, and really impressed me. Especially with the 0.6Ω pod (which was my favorite)

The 0.6Ω pod, running at 22W with 60/40 juice, performs amazingly for RDL vaping. The flavor is still fantastic, just slightly less intense than the 0.2Ω.

While this pod is marketed as an MTL option, the airflow and wide bore mouthpiece make it more suited to restricted lung hits. You can potentially do an open MTL.

This is why I would’ve loved to have had one of OXVAs 0.8Ω to test. Which I think has the potential to be great at MTL (with a smaller bore etc). But as it stands, I can’t really recommend the VPrime for MTL vaping; just go with an XLIM.

It’s worth noting that both pods handle chain vaping well, with no dry hits or flooding issues. And I didn’t experience any leaking during daily use.

Coil longevity is impressive – the 0.2Ω pod maintained consistent flavor through 40ml of juice, while the 0.6Ω showed minimal drop-off after 50ml.

OXVA VPRIME Battery Life and Charging

Battery Life & Charging

The 2600mAh battery is solid. Your runtime will vary depending on which resistance pod you use (and the wattage).

With the 0.2Ω pod at 55W, expect around 6-7 hours of moderate use. The 0.6Ω pod at 22W stretches much further, easily lasting a full day of heavy vaping.

I’m glad OXVA included 2A USB-C quick charging, with such a large battery. A full charge takes approximately 60-70 minutes from empty, with the screen displaying both percentage and estimated time remaining. Pass-through vaping is also supported, though the device can warm up slightly when used this way.

Pros

  • Excellent build quality
  • Ergonomic design
  • Impressive flavor from both pods
  • Large 5ml pod capacity (2ml TPD)
  • Substantial 2600mAh battery
  • Bright, customizable color display
  • Effective anti-leak pod design
  • Smooth and precise airflow control
  • Good coil longevity- Fast 2A USB-C charging

Cons

  • Auto-draw inconsistent with fully open airflow
  • Can’t lock the adjustment buttons
  • Not ideal for true MTL vaping (with included pods)
OXVA VPRIME Verdict

Verdict

The OXVA VPrime stands as an impressive entry into the high-wattage pod system market and is one of my favorite pods I’ve tested this year.

While it’s not the most compact device, and with its current available pods, it falls a little short for MTL vaping.

It is an absolute beast when it comes to RDL and DL vaping. It produces some of the best flavor I’ve had from a pod that rivals many sub-ohm tanks.

Its 2600mAh battery and 5ml capacity are big enough to last, and I love its ergonomic design and build quality.

I think the VPrime will suit all types of RDL and DL vapers. And I can’t wait to get hold of the 0.8Ω pods and test it out for true MTL.

In my opinion, when it comes to performance, the OXVA VPrime is now the high-wattage pod to beat – highly recommended.
