Design & Style
PCKT are such an impressive brand when it comes to build quality and design; they are like the Apple of vape pens.
Everything about the VRTCL screams high-end quality as soon as you place it in your hand.
The VRTCL has a unibody design that is CNC machined from a solid block of 6061 aluminum. As a result, it is incredibly slim and compact, measuring 73 x 19 x 13.5 mm, and only weighs 36 grams.
The VRTCL has rounded edges to make it comfortable to hold, but the front and back are flattened out, giving it a distinct look from other vape pens.
The body of the VRTCL has a brushed matte finish which is a delight to touch. In addition, there is an engraved PCKT logo on the top which is subtle and in keeping with the minimalistic design.
The fire button is oval in shape and protrudes just enough from the device. It has an excellent firm click to it and is very responsive.
Along the circumference of the button is also an oval LED light to show both the battery status and the power mode you have selected.
One the base of the VRTCL is the USB-C charging port which is neatly tucked away to keep things looking clean. However, some may not like that it’s easy to get grit or dirt in the port while placing it standing.
On the top of the device, you will find the opening to place your cartridges with the 510 thread sitting recessed in the middle of the device.
Overall the PCKT VRTCL is a sleek-looking vape pen that’s incredibly slim and compact with excellent build quality.
The VRTCL utilizes PCKT’s new RCKT 2 chip and is powered by an inbuilt 380mAh battery.
The VRTCL features five voltage settings ranging from 2.45 to 3.84 volts.
There is only one button on the device, which acts as the power and fire button; there is no draw activation on the VRTCL.
The VRTCL does support USB-C charging and passthrough. It will charge from flat in approximately 45 minutes.
Operating the VRTCL is extremely straightforward. Here’s a quick guide:
- Screw on your 510-threaded cartridge.
- Press the power button 5 times to switch on/off
- Press the button once to check the battery status.
- Press the button twice to change voltage, each click will cycle through the settings.
- Hold the button to select desired voltage setting.
- Press the button three times to adjust LED brightness.
- Press and hold the button to vape.
Battery Status Levels:
- Green light = 100%
- Yellow light = 50%
- Red light = low
Voltage Level Settings:
- Turquoise: 2.43V
- Blue: 2.73V
- Yellow: 3.09V
- Red: 3.54V
- Purple: 3.84V
To maintain the best performance of the device (as with all 510 thread batteries), clean the contacts and the chamber periodically.
The performance of any 510-thread vape battery is generally reliant on the 510 cartridges you use. So I tested the VRTCL with various different types of carts, from CBD to THC.
The VRTCL can only be used with cartridges that are less than 12mm in diameter.
The first thing to note is I had no issues with any of the cartridges I tested the VRTCL with. They all fitted seamlessly to the 510 connection, and the airflow configuration was OK with both top and bottom airflow.
The device is easy to use once you remember the combination of button presses to change voltage settings (two clicks). I like that PCKT has included the ability to adjust the LED brightness for stealth vaping, but I kept forgetting this was an option due to the three clicks.
I ran a few CBD carts in the lower voltage setting, which seemed to work well. However, I often found myself transitioning to the higher voltage settings (3.5 & 3.8V) as time went on, especially with my THC carts. Even in these settings, it delivered an extremely smooth vape with no burnt hits on any of my carts.
I was getting really good flavor and the draw I would expect from a larger 510 battery. However, I did find it worked best when taking longer inhales. If you prefer to be blasted by your cartridges, then you may need something that can be cranked up a bit higher on the voltage.
The 380mAh battery did an excellent job of lasting and actually exceeded my expectations. So it looks like the RCKT 2 chipset is working well with power efficiency. Just be mindful of the fact it is only a 380mAh battery, as this is such a compact device.
Overall I had no complaints with the performance of the PCKT VRTCL. It does everything you’d expect from a pocket-friendly 510 vape battery but in an extremely stylish design.
- Sleek compact design
- Great build quality
- Easy to use
- Great flavor from both coils
- Good juice capacity (3.5ml)
- Great coil life
- Adjustable airflow
- Smooth airflow
- Two drip tip styles
- Excellent battery life with 1.2Ω coil
- No auto draw firing
- Fire button is a little too flush with the device
The VRTCL is an excellent vape pen for 510 threaded cartridges.
It has an extremely stylish and elegant design that is also compact, lightweight, and durable.
The VRTCL was compatible with every cartridge I tested it with. The 5 different voltage settings work well, and it delivers a smooth draw with clean flavor.
It might not have the largest battery capacity, but it’s still efficient. The VRTCL is ideal for those that want a pocket-friendly vape pen that can deliver a smooth experience in a premium design.
