Product Description
The original LUXE X Pro used to be my daily driver, so this bigger, badder sibling had some serious expectations to live up to.
VAPORESSO has gone big with LUXE XR MAX 2. It’s a palm-sized device that refuses to compromise on either MTL or DTL performance.
We’re talking about a proper 80W powerhouse with a chunky 3200mAh battery that somehow fits into a form factor that’s still genuinely pocketable.
There’s a 0.96-inch TFT display that’s bright, responsive, and flanked by RGB LEDs that actually enhance the premium feel.
The MAX 2 features adjustable wattage and three usage modes, providing you with complete control. You also get dedicated MTL and DTL pods that work with the entire GTX coil ecosystem (0.15Ω to 1.2Ω).
Whether you’re chasing tight MTL satisfaction or want wide-open DTL clouds that rival dedicated mods, the MAX 2 aims to deliver it without breaking a sweat.Let’s find out if it delivers on that promise?

Design & Build Quality
Right out of the box, the LUXE XR MAX 2 immediately commands attention with its sophisticated two-tone design.
I received the Silver and Black versions for testing; both are equally sleek looking. They have that undeniable LUXE look to them.
While these are conservative colors (that I prefer), there are more eye-catching options like Flowing Purple and Imperial Red Leather available.
The device features a matte zinc body, with a glossy panel on the front and back. Behind the back panel is a carbon fiber-style texture, adding to the overall styling.

At 108 x 32.1 x 26.4mm and weighing 117g, this sits comfortably at the larger end of “palm-sized,” but VAPORESSO has nailed the ergonomics.
Despite housing that substantial 3200mAh battery, the weight distribution feels perfectly balanced. The build quality is immediately apparent – the zinc alloy frame feels rock-solid with zero flex or creaking. After two weeks of daily abuse, the finish has held up beautifully with no signs of wear.
That 0.96-inch TFT display is an absolute stunner – bright, crisp, and genuinely readable in all lighting conditions. The RGB LED strips flanking the screen light up during draws and add a touch of flair.

The fire button is positioned perfectly above the display where your thumb naturally falls. The touch-sensitive adjustment buttons below took a day to adapt to, but feel genuinely modern once you stop reaching for the fire button out of habit.
The airflow slider deserves special mention – it’s genuinely substantial, unlike the tiny affairs found on most pod systems. It moves smoothly through its range.
The pod connection uses strong magnets that guide cartridges into place with a satisfying click. It’s a secure fitting, but it does have that LUXE wobble when you force it to one side…but I think that’s just due to the size of the pods.
The majority of the 5ml reservoir sits above the device body, giving you excellent visibility of your juice levels through the slightly tinted pod walls.
The USB-C port on the base maintains a clean look, although the device must be laid flat to charge.
There is a clever device lock slider hidden next to the charging port. I love that VAPORESSO always includes a lock switch on their larger devices, and I appreciate it being tucked away on the LUXE XR MAX 2.
My only minor gripe with the design is the glossy panels, particularly around the display, are fingerprint magnets. But it’s a negative I’m happy to take when it looks so good.
Features
The LUXE XR MAX 2 is where VAPORESSO packs in features compared to their other pod vapes.
After two weeks of exploring every menu and mode, I believe they’ve struck the perfect balance between sophistication and usability.
That gorgeous 0.96-inch TFT display shows battery percentage, current wattage, coil resistance, puff count, and power mode.
The interface is surprisingly intuitive. The fire button handles activation, while touch-sensitive buttons below manage navigation.

- Two clicks take you into the main menu for power modes and settings.
- Three clicks adjust wattage in precise 1W increments across that impressive 6-80W range.
The menu includes three display themes, brightness adjustment, LED control, and five-day puff history.
Those three usage modes aren’t just marketing gimmicks – they genuinely transform performance.
- Pulse mode maintains flavor intensity by fluctuating power delivery to prevent wick oversaturation.
- Eco mode extends battery life through intelligent power curves, perfect for MTL sessions.
- Smart mode automatically adjusts wattage based on coil resistance, and its recommendations.
The RGB LED strips flanking the display light up when you take a draw. While I was prepared to dismiss this as unnecessary bling, they actually enhance the premium feel without being obnoxious. You can disable them if they’re not your thing.
The airflow system shows the device’s dual-personality capabilities. That substantial slider moves through a genuine range from wide-open DTL to properly tight MTL, with meaningful stops between. The airflow channel is genuinely large – not pin-prick holes – which explains how this handles 80W output without choking.
The device lock slider hidden on the base physically prevents accidental firing and setting changes without requiring button combinations.
Battery management displays actual percentages rather than vague bars, and USB-C charging shows an accurate countdown timer.
Speaking of battery. The whopping 3200mAh supports 2A USB fast charging and takes 55-65 minutes to top up from empty.
Safety features are comprehensive without being intrusive – short circuit, low voltage, overcharge protection, and 8-second cutoff.
Pods/Coils
This is where the LUXE XR MAX 2 stands out from other larger pod vapes in the market.
The LUXE XR MAX 2 is genuinely a dual-purpose device. To ensure both DTL and MTL experiences are optimal, you get two distinctly different 5ml cartridges: a dedicated MTL pod and a DTL pod, each optimized for their specific vaping styles and pre-loaded with the appropriate GTX coils.
The genius lies in the details. The MTL pod comes with a pre-installed 0.8Ω GTX mesh coil and works exclusively with higher-resistance options (0.6Ω to 1.2Ω).
The DTL pod arrives with a 0.2Ω GTX dual mesh coil and handles low-resistance powerhouses (0.15Ω to 0.4Ω).
This isn’t just about different coil resistances – the internal airflow channels and coil positioning are actually optimized for their intended use cases.

It’s worth noting you are not tied down to those resistances. The pods utilize user-replaceable coils rather than disposable pods. When your coil dies, you simply unscrew the old one and thread in a replacement – no wasteful pod disposal.
The anti-leak design around the coil socket works well; I haven’t experienced a single leak during my entire testing period, even when swapping coils multiple times.
The GTX coil ecosystem is where this system really shines. VAPORESSO’s COREX 2.0 dual mesh technology delivers exceptional flavor reproduction and impressive longevity.
The coil range available is genuinely comprehensive: 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω, and 1.2Ω for MTL; 0.15Ω, 0.2Ω, 0.3Ω, and 0.4Ω for DTL, plus an RBA option for tinkerers.
Included in the kit is the 0.2Ω for the DTL pod and 0.8Ω for the MTL pod.
I’ve been pushing the 0.2Ω coil hard at 50-55W for over a week with easily 40ml+ of various e-liquids without any burnt notes or performance drop-off.
The 0.8Ω coil has been even more impressive for longevity. Running it at Smart mode’s recommended 16W with 50/50 nic salts, I’m still using the original coil after two weeks of testing. The flavor clarity is remarkable.

These coils handle different e-liquid ratios brilliantly. I’ve run everything from thick 80/20 max VG liquids through the DTL setup to thin 50/50 salts in the MTL configuration, and the wicking keeps up flawlessly. Even during aggressive chain-vaping sessions at high wattages, I couldn’t push either coil to give me a dry hit.
The 5ml capacity of the pod is great, especially for a device capable of 80W output.
The pods are slightly tinted, but still clear enough to easily see your juice level. The fill system uses a bottom-port design behind a secure silicone plug. The port is generously sized and accommodates virtually any bottle tip. The filling is relatively mess-free, though you do need to remove the pod from the device.
The value proposition is excellent. Rather than throwing away entire pods when the coil dies, you’re simply replacing the coil itself. GTX coils are widely available and reasonably priced, making it a more economical system.
Performance
After two weeks of absolutely hammering the LUXE XR MAX 2 through every conceivable scenario, I can confidently say this device genuinely excels at both MTL and DTL without the usual compromises that plague dual-purpose devices.
The DTL experience is where this device really flexes its muscles. The pre-installed 0.2Ω coil paired with Smart mode’s suggested 55W setting delivered an immediate “Wow” moment. The flavor richness is exceptional – I’m talking about depth and complexity that makes you pause mid-puff. I’ve been testing with complex juices, and the COREX 2.0 dual mesh coils are capturing all the subtle undertones.
With airflow fully open, you get a genuinely satisfying DTL draw that’s more than adequate for serious cloud production. I pushed it up to 60W briefly, but the mouthpiece heated up a little too much for my liking. 50-55W seems to be the sweet spot for maximum flavor without heat issues.

The MTL performance genuinely surprised me because it’s where many dual-purpose devices fall short.
Switching to the 0.8Ω coil (and MTL pod) with airflow closed down, this thing transforms completely. The draw becomes tight – genuinely satisfying for MTL purists. Smart mode’s 16W recommendation proved spot-on, delivering excellent flavor reproduction with 20mg nic salts that was smooth and completely free of harshness. And the flavor was as good as any MTL XROS pod I’ve tried.
The wicking performance has been flawless throughout testing. I deliberately tried to push both setups to their limits with aggressive chain-vaping and high-VG liquids. Not once did I get a dry hit or any hint of cotton taste, even running the DTL setup at 55W for extended periods.
I was impressed by how the three usage modes genuinely transformed the device’s character. Pulse mode for maximum flavor is the way to go, but ECO mode still delivers and conserves battery.
The only negative aspect I have regarding the functionality of the LUXE XR MAX 2 is its manual firing mode only. It’s understandable on the DTL side of things, as there’s no way, with all that air, to get a consistent enough autodraw trigger.

I really miss auto-draw for MTL vaping, but you soon get used to manual firing. At least the fire button is well-positioned and responsive with zero delays.
Airflow quality is genuinely turbulence-free across the entire adjustment range – no whistling or weird pressure points, just clean, consistent airflow. Vapor production scales appropriately with power and airflow settings, and the consistency throughout extended use has been remarkable.
Battery performance under real-world use has been excellent.
The DTL configuration at 50-55W provides a solid day of moderate to heavy use, while the MTL setup easily lasts two days or more. The power modes genuinely impact battery consumption – Eco mode adds hours to your session time.
The LUXE XR MAX 2 doesn’t just claim to be a jack-of-all-trades – it genuinely masters both MTL and DTL vaping in ways that have made me rethink what’s possible from a single device.

Verdict
After two weeks of daily abuse across every possible configuration, the LUXE XR MAX 2 has genuinely blown me away – and that’s not something I say lightly about iterative updates.
This device solves the age-old problem of dual-purpose systems by actually excelling at both MTL and DTL instead of compromising on everything.
The dedicated pod approach is great, the COREX 2.0 coils deliver flavor that rivals setups costing twice as much, and that 3200mAh battery means you’re not constantly hunting for chargers.
The three usage modes and adjustable airflow are also on point, and give you full control over your vaping experience for both DTL and MTL.
Should you upgrade from the original LUXE X Pro? The bigger battery, higher power output, and superior airflow control make a compelling case, especially if you want DTL capability. New to the series? This should be top of your shortlist.
Bottom line: the LUXE XR MAX 2 is what happens when VAPORESSO fires on all cylinders. It’s genuinely versatile without compromise and has earned a permanent spot on my desk as my go-to device. Whether you’re an MTL purist or DTL enthusiast, this thing will spoil you.
