Product Description
The VAPORESSO XROS series has consistently been one of the best pod vapes around. But did we really need another iteration of an already solid formula? After two weeks of daily use with both devices, I can confidently say the answer is a resounding yes.
The standout upgrade here is that chunky 1500mAh battery (in both devices) – a whopping 50% bump from the XROS 4.
There’s also lightning-fast 3A charging to the XROS 5, and still fast 2A charging on the XROS 5 Mini.
But the real game-changer is VAPORESSO’s new COREX 3.0 technology powering the included pods. More on this later.
The XROS 5 is the bells-and-whistles model with a 0.88-inch color display, intuitive power modes, and customizable themes, while the Mini strips things back to pure simplicity without sacrificing performance.

DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY
Right out of the box, both the XROS 5 and XROS 5 Mini immediately caught my attention with their refined looks – VAPORESSO has upped their game in the styling department.
I received the ‘Violet Silk’ XROS 5 and the flowing ‘Pastel Crystal’ for testing. They have very different finishes, and honestly, I really like both.
The Violet Silk of the XROS 5 has a matte texture on the front and back, and funnily enough, is a kind of silky finish. The sides are a little glossier but don’t leave fingerprints.

The Pastel Crystal XROS 5 Mini has a glossy front and back panel. But beneath it is this almost pearlescent white, blue, and pink color. When it catches the light it is absolutely stunning. I think they are both sophisticated without being flashy, which is exactly the sweet spot I look for in a daily carry device.
They also feel a little more polished and well-built than previous XROS devices. Which is strange for me to say, because they’ve all been excellent, well-built devices. But there’s just something about these two that just feels a little more polished and refined.
The XROS 5 measures in at 120mm tall, 25mm wide, and just under 15mm deep – dimensions that feel perfectly balanced in hand. Despite packing that substantial 1500mAh battery, it weighs only 73g, which is good.
The Mini is slightly more compact at 110mm tall but maintains nearly identical width and depth, coming in at a featherweight 65g. Don’t let that “Mini” designation fool you though – we’re talking about a 10mm difference in height, not some dramatically smaller device.
The XROS 5’s standout feature is, of course, its gorgeous 0.88-inch color display. It’s bright, crisp, and genuinely readable in all lighting conditions – no squinting required. The screen sits flush with the body and is protected by what appears to be tempered glass. Below it, you’ll find the single fire button that’s perfectly tactile with just the right amount of travel and click feedback.
The Mini takes a completely different approach with its minimalist LED battery indicator – three simple dots that tell you everything you need to know about charge level. No buttons, no fuss, just pure auto-draw simplicity.
Both devices feature adjustable airflow sliders. They’re positioned perfectly on the side. The slider action is satisfying – not too stiff, not too loose – and the three settings (closed, half-open, fully open) provide a genuinely useful range from tight MTL to restricted DL.

The pod connection on both devices uses strong magnets. The pods sit almost entirely above the device body, making them incredibly easy to remove and giving you full visibility of your e-liquid level through the clear, untinted pod walls. It’s one of those thoughtful design choices that makes daily use just that bit more pleasant.
The USB-C port positioning is well thought out too. It’s positioned on the side, allowing you to charge the device while it stands upright.
It’s worth noting that numerous color options are available across both devices, ranging from classic blacks and blues to more vibrant colors. Most feature subtle pattern work and gradient effects.
I’m not sure if they will all be as easy on the eye and fingerprint-free as the two I’ve got. However, based on these two, I’m delighted with what Vaporesso has done with the design and styling of these upgrades.
FEATURES
The XROS 5 and XROS 5 Mini represent two completely different philosophies when it comes to feature sets, and honestly, VAPORESSO nailed both approaches perfectly.
Let me break down what each device brings to the table.
Starting with the XROS 5 – this is where VAPORESSO really flexed their muscles. The interface is refreshingly intuitive, built around that single fire button that handles everything without feeling cluttered.
Here’s how it breaks down:
- Single click fires the device (though auto-draw works simultaneously)
- Two clicks cycles through six different display themes,
- Three clicks adjusts your power mode between Eco, Normal, and Power,
- Four clicks enters menu to lock screen, lock button, clear puff counter
- Five clicks locks the device.
It’s logical, easy to remember, and just works.
Those display themes deserve special mention because they’re well-designed rather than gimmicky afterthoughts. You’ve got Black, White, Pink, Rainbow, Space, and Watch options.
That being said, I still think the standard Black one is the most appealing. I like to keep things simple.
The three power modes are where things get really interesting.
- Eco mode – extends battery life significantly while still delivering solid performance
- Normal mode – hits that sweet spot for all-day vaping
- Power mode – unleashes the full potential of your chosen pod.
What’s clever is how the device automatically switches to incremental wattage control when you insert a 0.4Ω pod – suddenly you get precise 1W adjustments instead of just the three preset modes.

I’m perfectly happy with only having 3 power modes for higher-resistant pods. My only gripe comes with the display, where it displays a huge ‘ECO’ or ‘NOR’ across the screen. It makes it look a bit funny, and I think that real estate could’ve been used better. It’s fine when you display wattage on a 0.4Ω pod, but most will use the higher resistance with these devices.
However, the XROS 5’s display provides all the essential information at a glance: current power mode, battery percentage (not just bars!), resistance reading, and a puff counter that goes up to five digits. When you plug it in to charge, you even get a countdown timer showing exactly how much time remains – a feature I wish more devices would adopt.
The XROS 5 Mini takes the complete opposite approach, and frankly, it’s brilliant in its simplicity. No buttons, no menus, no settings to configure – just fill, vape, and enjoy. The three-LED battery indicator tells you everything you need to know about charge level, and the device automatically adjusts output based on the pod resistance you’re using. For users who want zero complexity, it’s absolutely perfect.
Auto-draw activation on both devices is responsive and consistent. I’ve tested it across all airflow settings, and unlike some competitors that struggle with wide-open airflow, both the XROS 5 and Mini trigger reliably every single time.

Both devices feature adjustable airflow. The slider moves through three distinct positions with satisfying detents, and the range is genuinely useful. Fully closed gives you a proper tight MTL draw that works beautifully with nic salts, half-open hits that perfect medium MTL sweet spot, and fully open provides enough airflow for a satisfying restricted DL experience with the right pod.
Charging is another strong point of both devices.
The 3A Super Charge capability on the XROS 5 is a game-changer for anyone who’s ever been caught with a dead device. We’re talking 34 minutes from completely empty to fully charged – that’s fast enough to rescue your evening out or get you through a work day even if you forgot to charge overnight.
The Mini’s 2A charging is still respectable at 48 minutes, just not quite as impressive. However, many other manufacturers only provide 1A charging on their simpler devices, so I’m happy Vaporesso didn’t cut corners here.
All the expected safety protections are present and accounted for: short-circuit protection, overcharge protection, low-voltage protection, and an 8-second cutoff.
Pods/Coils
This is where the XROS 5 has taken the most significant upgrade. The new XROS pods now come with VAPORESSO’s new COREX 3.0 technology.
The XROS 5 comes with both a 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω pod, while the Mini includes just the 0.8Ω option. All of the pods have a 3ml capacity (2ml TPD regions).
Let me break down what COREX 3.0 actually brings to the table, because the improvements are immediately noticeable. VAPORESSO has redesigned the entire coil structure with what they call a “Hive Mesh” design, paired with an improved chimney system and nano-microfiber wicking material, which is supposedly made from aerospace-grade components.
That might sound like marketing speak, but the real-world performance backs up the claims – we’re talking 30-40% better flavor reproduction, smoother airflow, and significantly extended pod life compared to the previous COREX 2.0 generation.
The pods themselves maintain that XROS design philosophy that’s made this series so popular. The top-fill system is perfect. Simply pop off the mouthpiece to reveal a generously sized fill port. Also, they’re completely clear and untinted, so you can actually see your e-liquid level without guessing games.
I’ve been putting serious miles on both the 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω pods, and the longevity is genuinely impressive. The 0.8Ω pod that came with my XROS 5 has seen over two weeks of heavy testing across all power modes, and the flavor is still crisp and clean with zero signs of degradation. That’s easily 25-30ml of various e-liquids without any burnt notes or flavor drop-off – performance that puts some premium devices to shame.
The 0.6Ω pod delivers slightly more vapor production and works beautifully for restricted DL vaping when paired with the XROS 5’s Power mode. Flavor-wise, it’s exceptional – complex fruit blends come through with remarkable clarity, and even subtle bakery notes that often get lost in pod systems are clearly defined.
I’ve run everything from 50/50 nic salts to 70/30 freebase liquids through both resistance options, and the wicking keeps up beautifully. Even during aggressive chain-vaping sessions, I couldn’t push either pod to give me a dry hit – the nano-microfiber wicking is clearly doing its job.
The backward compatibility also deserves a special mention because it’s such a consumer-friendly move. Every XROS pod ever made will work perfectly in both the XROS 5 and Mini, from the 0.4Ω low-resistance options up to the 1.2Ω high-resistance pods for ultra-tight MTL vaping. If you’ve got a collection of older pods, they’ll work just fine, though I’d strongly recommend grabbing some COREX 3.0 pods when you can – the difference in flavor quality is substantial enough to justify the upgrade.
On the flip side, if you already have an older XROS, get your hands on these new pods, and you’ll feel like you have an entirely new device.
Performance
After two weeks of putting both devices through their paces as my daily drivers, I can confidently say the XROS 5 and Mini deliver.
Let’s start with the XROS 5, which quickly became my preferred device of the two. The 0.6Ω pod running in Power mode at around 18-20W has become my absolute sweet spot for restricted DL vaping. The flavor production is genuinely exceptional – I’m talking about the kind of clarity and depth that makes you pause mid-puff and smile.
The versatility of the XROS 5 really shines when you factor in the airflow adjustment and power modes. Close the airflow completely with the 0.8Ω pod in Normal mode, and you get a beautifully tight MTL draw that’s perfect for 20mg nic salts – smooth, satisfying, and without any harshness. Open it halfway, and you’re in that perfect medium MTL territory that I personally gravitate toward. Fully open with the 0.6Ω pod in Power mode? You’re getting a restricted DL experience that rivals devices costing twice as much.

What really impressed me was the consistency across different power settings. Eco mode isn’t just a battery-saving afterthought – it still delivers solid flavor and vapor production, just dialed back enough to extend your session time significantly.
Normal mode hits that perfect daily-driver balance, while Power mode unleashes the full potential of whatever pod you’ve installed.
The XROS 5 Mini tells a slightly different performance story, but it’s no less impressive for its simplicity. Without manual power adjustment, it relies entirely on automatic output based on pod resistance, and honestly, VAPORESSO has tuned it perfectly. The 0.8Ω pod delivers exactly what you’d expect – smooth, flavorful MTL vaping that just works without any fuss. I spent several days using only the Mini, and I genuinely didn’t miss the manual controls. Sometimes simplicity is exactly what you need.
The auto-draw activation on both devices is excellent. It’s perfectly calibrated – sensitive enough that you don’t need to work for it, but not so hair-trigger that it fires accidentally in your pocket. More importantly, it works consistently across all airflow settings.
Airflow quality deserves special mention because it’s genuinely smooth and turbulence-free across the entire adjustment range. There’s no whistling, no weird pressure points, just clean, consistent airflow that enhances rather than detracts from the overall experience.

The wicking performance has been flawless throughout my testing period. I deliberately tried to push both devices to their limits with aggressive chain-vaping sessions, rapid-fire draws, and high-VG liquids that typically challenge pod systems. Not once did I get a dry hit or any hint of cotton taste. The COREX 3.0 wicking system clearly handles demanding use patterns without breaking a sweat.
Vapor production scales appropriately with your power and airflow settings.
The consistency of performance throughout the life of each pod has been remarkable. I’m still using the original 0.8Ω pod that came with my XROS 5, and after nearly three weeks of testing, the flavor is virtually identical to day one. No gradual degradation, no burnt notes creeping in – just consistent, excellent performance that makes these pods a genuine upgrade over previous XROS pods. And the XROS 5’s are the perfect home for them.

After two weeks of daily abuse, both devices have genuinely impressed me – and that’s not something I say lightly about iterative updates.
The XROS 5 has become my daily driver, which tells you everything you need to know. That display is gorgeous, the COREX 3.0 coils deliver flavor that rivals any on the market. Whether you’re an MTL vaper or prefer restricted DL, this thing adapts perfectly to your style.
The Mini might seem like the budget option, but it’s brilliant at what it does. Zero fuss, exceptional performance, and the same excellent battery life as its bigger brother. If you want simplicity without compromise, this is your device.
Should you upgrade from an XROS 4? The battery boost and more refined design would sway me. However, I believe the real improvement comes from COREX 3.0.
If you’re new to the series? (or pod vapes in general) Either of the XROS 5 devices should be top of your list. Both deliver exceptional value and flavor. It may be a minor upgrade, but VAPORESSO has knocked it out of the park again.
