Product Description
If you’re familiar with VOOPOO’s ARGUS series, then you’ll be excited to know about their latest addition, the ARGUS E40.
The ARGUS E40 is a versatile pod vape kit that aims to caters to both MTL and DL vapers.
It features adjustable wattage from 5-40W, and a 1800mAh with 2A fast charging.
It comes with new pods that have a 4.5ml capacity. With a 0.3Ω and 0.6Ω included in the kit.
It’s also compatible with VOOPOOs PnP X coils when paired with an empty ARGUS pod.
The E40 offers both auto-draw and button-activated firing, an OLED screen, and adjustable airflow.
The ARGUS E40 is available in 7 colors: Starlight Purple, Spray Black, Sky Blue, Space Gray, Lake Green, Pearl White, and Modern Red.

Design & Build Quality
VOOPOO has done a great job with the design of the ARGUS E40. It’s a departure from their previous ARGUS devices, but still maintains some of the series’ design elements.
The E40 has a tall, rectangular shape that’s chunkier than your average pod vape. It measures 114mm tall, 31.2mm wide, and 22.6mm thick, giving it a substantial feel in the hand.
The device’s body is a combination of zinc alloy and clear plastic. The metal casing makes up the back and most of the sides, while the clear plastic covers the entire front.
The paint finish is excellent and has held up well, even after a few accidental drops.

On the front of the E40, you’ll find a metal panel, a 0.42” OLED screen, and holographic LED lights (more on this later). This is all housed under the clear plastic top layer.
The back of the device has a unique window cut out of the metal body. Which offers a glimpse of the circuit board and what appears to be a mini-fan – it’s a cool design touch.
The airflow adjustment slider is located on one side of the device and is machined from a single piece of metal along with the knob.
The airflow is either one wide open, step-less hole (which covers all forms of DL). Or when it’s fully closed, there is a pinhole still present for MTL vaping.
It’s also worth noting that there is a small airflow hole on the other side of the device. This can’t be adjusted, and I think it makes the E40 a little too airy for MTL—more on this later.

On the opposite side of the E40, you’ll find the power/fire button. It’s tall and perfect for firing with either your thumb or index finger. It only protrudes slightly from the device, keeping things looking streamlined.
The E40’s USB-C port for charging is on the base. It sits inside a rubber section, which I really like. It makes the device nice to place upright on a table. I wish more pod vapes had rubber bases.
It’s worth noting that the ARGUS E40’s build quality is exceptional. The device feels solid and well-constructed, with no rattling or loose parts.

The only thing that some might dislike is the clear plastic front. It’s glossy and does attract fingerprints and scratches. But for me that’s a minor issue because it looks so great.
Overall, VOOPOO has crafted a visually appealing and well-built device with the ARGUS E40. The unique design elements, like the window on the back, set it apart from other pod vapes on the market.

Features
The ARGUS E40 offers a solid set of features for a pod vape.
It’s powered by an 1800mAh battery and the GENE.AI 2.0 chipset.
The E40 has smart coil detection, so it will set the recommended wattage based on the resistance of the coil/attached.
However, it also has adjustable wattage with a range of 5-40W. You can increase the power in 1W increments. It will max out and round-robin based don’t eh coils resistance.
The device also features adjustable airflow. It can cater to all DL draws and MTL. But, the MTL is a bit on the loose side.
The device has a small 0.42″ OLED screen that displays essential information like battery life (as a percentage), wattage, coil resistance, and a puff counter.
The screen is a bit small for such a large device. But it still provides all the necessary information at a glance.
If you struggle to see the small battery percentage on the display, the E40 also has checkerboard-pattern LED lights on either side to indicate your battery level.
- Green = 60-100%
- Blue = 20-60%
- Red = < 20%

These lights are a nice touch. They add a bit of style and make it easier to check your battery status quickly.
The E40 offers both auto-draw and button-activated firing. You can also lock the device so it’s auto-draw only.
It features 2A fast charging and can fully charge in approximately 60 minutes. The display changes when charging and shows the remaining charge time, which is a great touch.

How to Use
Using the ARGUS E40 is a straightforward process, thanks to its simple menu system and button combinations.
- To turn the device on: simply press the fire button five times in quick succession.
- To adjust the wattage: press the fire button three times. The wattage will start blinking on the screen. Press or hold the fire button to increase the wattage. The device will automatically save your setting after a brief pause or when you inhale.
The E40 also features a basic menu system, which can be accessed by pressing the fire button five times. In this menu, you can:
- Clear the puff counter: Select this option and press the fire button to reset your puff count to zero.
- Lock the device: Choose this option to lock the fire button, preventing accidental firing. You can still vape using the auto-draw feature when the device is locked.
- Power off: Select this option and hold the fire button for two seconds to turn the device off.
That’s all there is to it! I think it’s an easy-to-use device, even for beginners.

Pods/Coils
The ARGUS E40 is compatible with a range of pods and coils, giving you plenty of options.
The device comes with two 4.5ml (2ml TPD) integrated pods, each with a different coil resistance:
- 0.3Ω pod – 32-40W range, best with 0-12mg nicotine
- 0.6Ω pod – 12-25W range, best with 20-50mg nicotine
There is also a 0.45Ω available (26-32W range), best for 12-20mg nicotine.
These new ARGUS pods have non-removable coils. However, VOOPOO also offers empty pods that are compatible with their PnP X coils.
These coils come in a variety of resistances:
- 0.15Ω
- 0.2Ω
- 0.3Ω
- 0.45Ω
- 0.6Ω
VOOPOO claims that these new pods can last for up to 100ml without any burning, flavor fading, or leaking.
That’s quite the claim!

While I didn’t quite vape that much e-liquid during my testing. I can say that the coils performed exceptionally well, with minimal flavor drop-off over time.
I’ll cover their longevity in more detail in the performance section.
The pods feature a “4-layer leakage-resistant design,” which seems to work well. I didn’t experience any leaking during my testing, even when using the blank pods with the PnP X coils.
The pods themselves have a tint to them, but it’s still easy to see your juice level. Unless you’re in low-light conditions.
The pods attach to the E40 with strong magnets, and once they’re connected, there’s no noticeable wiggle or play.
The fill port is located on the side of the pod, which becomes hidden when the pods are connected. It’s a very large fill hole and can accommodate most e-liquid bottle nozzles without making a mess.
The mouthpiece on the pods is quite wide, with a large bore that allows for ample airflow – perfect for DL vaping.
But, they are just too wide and open for my liking for a decent MTL draw. They are comfortable just not ideal for MTL.

Performance
So, how does the ARGUS E40 perform?
In short, it’s a really impressive device, but mainly for DL vapers.
I tested the E40 with both the included 0.3Ω and 0.6Ω integrated pods, as well as a blank pod with a 0.6Ω PnP X coil.
First, I tested the 0.3Ω pod with 70/30 juice. And let me tell you, this pod can really deliver the flavor. It is punchy and clean right from the offset.
It’s also great for vapor production and surprisingly smooth and quiet even with the airflow wide open.
I found the sweet spot for the 0.3Ω pod to be around 35W. That’s where it delivered the warm and flavorful vape I like for DL.
VOOPOO claims the 0.6Ω pod is suited for both MTL and restricted DL vaping.

I think it’s great for a restricted DL draw, but when it comes to MTL it’s only okay if you like a looser draw.
There’s just too much airflow and too wide a bore for a really good tight MTL. Other devices deliver a better experience here.
I also think 0.6Ω is a little too low a resistance for MTL. So I’d like to see VOOPOO release a 0.8Ω or 1.0Ω integrated pod.
I did test the the 0.6Ω with 50/50 and 70/30 juice, and I have to say it wicked well with both. No signs of drying up.
The sweet spot for me with this pod was around 20W, with the airflow slightly open.
The flavor is still equally impressive with the 0.6Ω.
The blank pod with the 0.6Ω PnP X coil surprisingly performed a little better than the integrated 0.6Ω pod.
The flavor was just as excellent. But the draw is slightly tighter, giving a more satisfying MTL vape.

I haven’t been able to push the limits of lifespan with both pods. But I have run around 60ml of juice through the 0.6Ω, and it’s still going strong. While the 0.3Ω has had 50ml through it and also shows no signs of deterioration.
That’s pretty impressive so far. But I’ll update this review when we do further testing.
The E40’s auto-draw feature works flawlessly, even with the airflow fully open. There’s no noticeable delay, which is great.
Battery life on the E40 is decent, thanks to the 1800mAh capacity.
I easily got a full day of moderate to heavy vaping on a single charge, even when using the 0.3Ω pod at higher wattages.
However, for the size of the device, I would’ve liked to have seen a slightly higher capacity (like 2000mAh)
Thankfully, the E40 has reasonably fast charging. It tops up in around 60 minutes thanks to the 2A USB-C fast charging.

One minor quirk I noticed is that the device sometimes gets a bit warm during prolonged vaping sessions when using the 0.3Ω pod at higher wattages.
However, it never gets uncomfortably hot, and the warmth dissipates quickly when you stop vaping.
Overall, the ARGUS E40 delivers impressive performance for DL vaping. While it delivers a decent MTL vape, it falls short for those who like a tight draw.

Verdict
The VOOPOO ARGUS E40 is an incredibly sleek-looking and impressive performing pod vape.
It has exceptional build quality, is easy to use, and delivers fantastic flavor from both included pods (0.3Ω & 0.6Ω).
But it’s better suited to those that like to DL vape, or prefer an incredibly loose MTL vape.
While it’s sold as versatile and an MTL device. There are better pod kits out there for true MTL vaping.
The E40 does have a ton of options when it comes to pods, as it can also be used with the empty pods and the PnP X coils. So you might find a better combination for MTL later down the line.
The 1800mAh battery is respectable (but we wish it was larger).
The 4.5ml capacity, smooth adjustable airflow, and fast-charging are all plus points.
If you are a DL or RDL vaper looking for a stylish pod kit that delivers a quality vape, the E40 is an excellent choice.
