DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY
The Argus G3 immediately caught my eye when I first unboxed it.
The device has undergone a bit of an overhaul from the G2 model, with VOOPOO opting for a more refined, sophisticated look.
The Aurora Purple version I received for review has this pearlescent gradient finish that looks stunning when it catches the light. While I would’ve preferred a more manly color, i’m impressed with the finish. It’s less flashy than previous Argus models.
That said, you might notice the ornate bezel surrounding the screen—it’s reminiscent of a luxury wristwatch and definitely makes the G3 stand out from the crowd. The high-polished accents look great, but I will say they’re absolute fingerprint magnets in daily use. I found myself constantly wiping the sides of the device down during testing!
The size feels just right. It measures 120mm x 26.4mm x 15.1mm and weighs about 61g, which is really light but still feels premium. The rounded edges and contoured body make it extremely comfortable to hold.
The rectangular 0.96-inch TFT color display is where things get really interesting. It’s bright, crisp, and a genuine highlight of the device. What makes it even better is the customization options – you can cycle through multiple themes and animations, giving the device some personality beyond just the standard readouts.
The screen displays all the essentials: battery life, resistance, wattage, and a puff counter that goes up to five digits (which is more than enough for even the heaviest vapers).
The airflow control slider on the side is well-implemented, offering smooth adjustment from a tight MTL draw to a restricted DL hit. I did occasionally find myself covering it with my finger during use, but that’s a minor quibble rather than a design flaw.
The function button on the other side is perfectly tactile. It’s a little too flush with the device, but since this is primarily an auto-draw device, you won’t be using the button for firing – it’s mainly for menu navigation.
The build quality is strong and durable overall. The magnets holding the pod in place are firm and guide it smoothly into position without excessive wiggle.
Even after two weeks of heavy use and a couple of accidental drops onto my desk, the finish has held up remarkably well with no signs of wear. The G3 definitely feels like a step up in overall refinement compared to some of VOOPOO’s previous offerings.
FEATURES
The Argus G3 packs some genuinely useful features without overcomplicating things.
First up, let’s talk about the interface. The menu system is straightforward and intuitive – everything is handled with a single button, which makes operation a breeze even for beginners. Here’s the breakdown:
- One-click wakes up the screen
- Two clicks lets you cycle through different themes (long press to confirm)
- Three clicks to adjust wattage in 1W increments
- Five clicks takes you to the menu (power, clear puffs, lock/unlock)
- Long press activates stealth mode
The G3 has smart coil detection that automatically suggests the optimal wattage range whenever you insert a pod. Even better, the chip actually prevents you from exceeding the maximum recommended wattage for each pod – 18W for the 0.4Ω and 30W for the 0.7Ω. This is a good feature for beginners who might otherwise burn out coils by running them too hot.

The auto-draw activation is impressively responsive, working consistently regardless of airflow setting. Unlike some competitors that struggle with wide-open airflow, the G3’s auto-draw triggers reliably every time. The draw itself is smooth and satisfying, with no turbulence or annoying whistling sounds.
The G3 supports 5V/2A fast charging, taking the 1500mAh battery from empty to full in just 38 minutes in my testing – VOOPOO actually undersells this at 45 minutes, which is a refreshing change from the usual marketing exaggerations!
I love that you get an animated charging display (with the remaining charge time). My only gripe is that the display disappears after a few seconds, forcing you to click the button to check progress.
The customizable themes are a fun touch. But in all honesty, I didn’t like ‘Sport’ and ‘Music’ themes; they are a bit too chaotic for my liking…and i’m not really sure what the connection is with vaping. The ‘Smart’ theme is easily the best and most elegant.
All the expected safety protections are present – 8-second cutoff, short-circuit protection, low battery protection, overcharge protection, overheating protection, and so on. Nothing revolutionary here, but it’s good to know they’ve covered all the bases.
While I’m predominantly focused on performance over flashy extras, I found the overall feature set of the Argus G3 struck a nice balance between functionality and fun without overwhelming users with unnecessary complexity.
PODS/COILS
The heart of any pod system is its coils, and VOOPOO has genuinely pushed the envelope here with their new iCOSM CODE 2.0 technology in the Argus Top Fill Cartridge V2.
The Argus G3 comes with two pod options out of the box – a 0.4Ω and a 0.7Ω – both utilizing the new technology. Here are their specs:
- 0.4Ω pod: Recommended for 14-18W range
- 0.7Ω pod: Recommended for 18-30W range
What exactly is this iCOSM CODE 2.0 technology? According to VOOPOO, it’s a multi-layered approach to improving flavor and longevity. There’s a large mesh coil at the core, surrounded by what they’re calling “golden cotton” (aerospace-grade material), a “mega-core” to regulate wicking speed, and a copper “liquid-seal shield” that supposedly creates a dense e-liquid film covering 99% of the internal surface.
Marketing jargon aside, the most interesting claim is about the golden cotton, which VOOPOO says is 3x denser than traditional cotton, offers 73% more heat resistance (handling up to 260°C compared to regular cotton’s 150°C), and has a 300% longer lifespan.
That’s a bold claim – up to 100ml of e-liquid without losing flavor or performance!
The Argus Top Fill Cartridge V2 pods have a 3ml capacity (2ml for TPD regions) and are somewhat tinted, but still transparent enough to easily check your juice level.

The top-fill system (which is technically on the side near the top) is straightforward but not perfect. You just lift the silicone plug to access the fill port, which is large enough to accommodate most bottle nozzles. The nice part is you don’t need to remove the pod from the device to refill it.
However, there’s one frustrating aspect to the filling process – the large coil housing creates two chambers inside the pod, making it tricky to fill quickly. You need to squeeze, wait for air bubbles to escape, and repeat. It requires more patience than I’d like, especially when I’m in a hurry.
I’ve been testing both pods extensively with different e-liquids, and I’ve got to say, I’m genuinely impressed with what VOOPOO has achieved here.
The longevity of these pods is exceptional. VOOPOO’s claims of extended lifespan seem to hold water. I’ve put over 40ml through the 0.7Ω pod, and the flavor is still virtually identical to day one. No burnt hits, no significant drop-off in performance – just consistent, excellent flavor. That’s genuinely impressive when many competitors start to degrade after 15-20ml.
As a nice bonus, the G3 is backward compatible with the entire Argus pod family, so if you’ve got pods from previous VOOPOO devices, you can use them here as well. That’s a consumer-friendly move I always appreciate seeing.
PERFORMANCE
After spending a solid two weeks with the Argus G3 as my daily driver, I can confidently say this device punches well above its weight class when it comes to performance.
I’ve tested it with various e-liquids across both pods, and the results have consistently impressed me – though there are a few quirks worth noting.
Let’s start with the 0.7Ω pod, which quickly became my favorite of the two. In the 22-25W range, it delivers a perfectly balanced vape with outstanding flavor. What really surprised me was how well it handles both MTL and restricted DL vaping styles. With the airflow fully closed, you get a satisfying tight MTL draw that’s perfect for nic salts.
Open it up halfway, and you’re in medium MTL territory – my personal sweet spot. Fully open, and you can achieve a restricted DL hit that still delivers impressive flavor.
The flavor production from this pod is genuinely exceptional. I’ve been using a complex fruit and custard blend that I know well, and the G3 with the 0.7Ω pod picks up subtle notes that some of my more expensive devices miss. The creamy undertones and the fruity tartness come through beautifully, creating a well-rounded vaping experience that had me reaching for this device over and over.
The 0.4Ω pod (tested at 15-17W) is clearly aimed at restricted direct lung vapers, and it performs really well here. Running my usual 70/30 test juice, the vapor production is substantial, and the flavor is rich and full. However, I did find that it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the 0.7Ω pod in terms of flavor clarity – it’s good, but not exceptional.
One aspect that really impressed me was the consistency of performance across different power levels. The wicking keeps up beautifully even during chain vaping sessions – I deliberately tried to push it to its limits and couldn’t get a dry hit. This is particularly impressive given the complex coil design, which theoretically requires more efficient wicking than simpler setups.
The auto-draw activation is among the best I’ve tested recently. It triggers reliably regardless of airflow setting – unlike some competitors that struggle with wide-open airflow. It has the right sensitivity, not too light that it fires accidentally, but responsive enough that you don’t need to pull hard to activate it.
The airflow and airflow control deserve special mention. The control is smooth and precise, allowing you to dial in exactly the draw you want.
Speaking of smooth, the airflow itself is some of the smoothest you’ll find on a pod vape. There’s no turbulence or whistling in any setting, just a clean, smooth airflow that enhances the overall vaping experience. The range is impressive too – from a legitimately tight MTL to a satisfying restricted DL.
Battery life from the 1500mAh cell is solid. With the 0.7Ω pod at around 22W, I consistently got through most of a day of moderate-to-heavy use, averaging around 4-5ml of e-liquid per charge. The 0.4Ω pod, even at lower wattages, seemed to drain the battery slightly faster. I suspect the complex coil system draws more power than simpler designs, which makes sense given the performance it delivers.
The device consistently outputs until about 15% of battery is remaining, after which you’ll notice a slight drop in performance—still, it’s better than some competitors. When you do need to recharge, the 38-minute full charge time (impressive for a 1500mAh battery) means you won’t be tethered to a cable for long.
The only real performance niggle I encountered was occasional condensation building up inside the pod connection after extended use – especially with the 0.4Ω pod. It’s minimal compared to some other pods I’ve tested, but it’s worth mentioning. A quick wipe every couple of days keeps everything running smoothly.
In terms of e-liquid consumption, these pods are definitely thirstier than average. That enhanced flavor production comes at a cost – I found myself refilling more frequently than with some competitors. But honestly, given the quality of the vape, I consider that a fair trade-off. I’d rather refill more often and enjoy every puff than conserve e-liquid at the expense of flavor.

VERDICT
After spending two weeks putting the VOOPOO Argus G3 through its paces, I can confidently say it’s one of the most impressive pod systems I’ve tested recently.
The Argus G3 represents a significant evolution in VOOPOO’s lineup. The new iCOSM CODE 2.0 technology isn’t just marketing. In my experience, it elevated the flavor production beyond what I’ve come to expect from pod systems.
The 0.7Ω pod, in particular, delivers a vaping experience that rivals some of my favorite sub-ohm setups in terms of flavor clarity and richness.
VOOPOO has struck an excellent balance with the G3—it has a premium feel without being flashy, is feature-rich without being complicated, and is performance-focused without sacrificing battery life. And the airflow is a delight.
Also the backward compatibility with the entire Argus pod family is a consumer-friendly touch I wish more manufacturers would adopt.
I guess the question is, if you already own the Argus G2, should you upgrade? While I was a huge fan of the G2, I would say the G3 is definitely worth considering for the improved flavor alone. Add in the larger battery, faster charging, and refined design, and it becomes an even more compelling package.
The VOOPOO Argus G3 has earned its place as my go-to pod system, and I find myself reaching for it over devices costing twice as much. For anyone in the market for a premium pod vape that delivers exceptional flavor without breaking the bank, the Argus G3 should be at the top of your list.
