Product Description
The VOOPOO Argus G4 and G4 Mini are the latest entries in one of the most consistently impressive pod vape lineups on the market. If you’ve followed the Argus family at all, you’ll know that VOOPOO doesn’t do complacency — each generation has brought something genuinely new to the table — and the G4 series is no different.
The headline addition this time around is VOOPOO’s new multi-ohm pods. Rather than swapping coils or carrying multiple pods for different vaping styles, users can switch between three resistance options — 0.4Ω, 0.7Ω, and 1.0Ω — in a single cartridge. It’s an ambitious concept that opens the door to both MTL and RDL vaping from one device, without any of the usual compromises.
Backing that up is a substantial 1650mAh battery — a notable step up from the 1500mAh cell in the G3 — paired with impressive fast charging. The G4 and G4 Mini are otherwise familiar in their approach: slim, pocketable form factors, refined build quality, and the same iCOSM Code 2.0 coil technology that made the G3 pods such a standout performer.
The key distinction between the two models comes down to features and simplicity. The G4 comes equipped with a 0.85-inch HD display, a single button for navigation, manual wattage adjustment up to 35W, and the full three-resistance capability of the new multi-ohm pods. The G4 Mini takes a more stripped-back approach — no screen, no button, draw-activated only — and tops out at 30W. It’s also worth noting that the Mini’s multi-ohm pods are limited to 0.7Ω and 1.0Ω only; the 0.4Ω option requires the button interaction that the Mini simply doesn’t have.
Both kits are compatible with existing Argus pods, which is always a welcome consumer-friendly touch from VOOPOO.

DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY
When I unboxed the Argus G4, my first impression was exactly what I’ve come to expect from VOOPOO — solid, well-machined, and immediately premium-feeling in the hand. The G4 series continues the brand’s tradition of pairing clean, mature aesthetics with genuinely robust construction, and neither model disappoints on that front.
The G4 is a noticeable evolution from the G3. It’s slightly wider and thicker — the inevitable trade-off for that larger 1650mAh battery — but it still sits comfortably in the hand. VOOPOO has introduced some variety in the build materials this time around. Depending on the colour you go for, the G4 is available in either aluminium alloy or zinc alloy variants, with some also featuring leather and decorative panels. The zinc alloy version adds around 20g to the weight, so it’s worth bearing in mind if you prefer something lighter, though it does feel noticeably more substantial to hold.

I reviewed the orange version, which features the seamless body with subtle crosshatching, and honestly — I love it. The orange-to-red gradient is stunning, shifting beautifully depending on the light, and the crosshatch texture adds just enough tactile detail without breaking up the clean lines of the device. The whole thing has an almost Apple-like quality to it; restrained, considered, and genuinely premium without resorting to flashy branding or gimmicky finishes. If you told someone this cost three times what it actually does, they’d believe you.
The screen integration is a step forward from the G3. Rather than the ornate bezel that surrounded the display on the previous model, VOOPOO has gone with a smoked panel that sits completely flush with the body — and it looks great. It feels cohesive and intentional, like the screen belongs to the device rather than being added on top of it. The 0.85-inch display shows all the essentials — battery level, wattage, resistance, and puff count — and while it’s not the largest screen you’ll find on a pod vape, it’s clear and easy to read at a glance.
The layout is sensible and well thought out across both models. The display sits near the top of the front face, the single button occupies one edge, the USB-C port sits opposite, and the airflow slider runs along the back. Everything falls naturally under your thumb during use. Branding is kept to a minimum — just a small embossed ARGUS logo near the base — which I always appreciate. These devices look classy without shouting about it.
The G4 is available in eight colour options: black, brown, blue, green, orange, silver, purple, and grey. As mentioned, there are two distinct style variants — the seamless crosshatch body and the panel version — so it’s worth checking which you’re getting before you buy, as they do have a different feel in the hand.

The G4 Mini is a slightly different proposition, and I tested the silver metallic version. At 113mm and 56g, it’s more compact than the G4, and the full aluminium alloy construction gives it a cool, clean, almost industrial feel — that same Apple-esque quality but in a more minimal form. There’s no screen here, just a slim LED strip on the front face that indicates battery level and, via colour, the current resistance setting. Like the G3 Mini before it, the stripped-back design works beautifully for what this device is — a no-fuss, grab-and-go pod vape.
It is worth noting that the G4 Mini isn’t quite as compact as the G3 Mini was. The bigger battery means a slightly larger footprint overall, which is a fair trade-off, but worth knowing if you’re upgrading specifically for the small form factor. It’s still impressively pocketable — just not quite as tiny as its predecessor. The G4 Mini is available in seven colours: black, blue, cyan, green, orange, silver, and purple.
FEATURES
The G4 and G4 Mini are cleverly innovative without being overcomplicated — and that balance is harder to strike than it sounds. The star feature is undoubtedly the new multi-ohm pod system, but there’s plenty more going on under the hood worth talking about.
Let’s start with the G4’s interface, which will feel familiar to anyone who’s used the G3. Everything is handled through a single button, and the system is intuitive enough that you won’t be reaching for the manual after the first day. Here’s the breakdown:
- One click wakes the screen
- Two clicks changes the resistance mode
- Three clicks to adjust wattage
- Five clicks opens the settings menu
- Long press selects an option within the menu
- Long press on startup displays the quick-start guide
The settings menu gives you access to the power off option, theme selection, puff counter reset, and a lock function that disables wattage adjustments, resistance switching, and animations. There are three themes available, two of which include animations — a nice touch that adds a bit of personality to the device without feeling overdone. VOOPOO has also integrated a quick-start guide directly into the device itself, which is a genuinely thoughtful feature, especially for newer vapers who might be getting to grips with the multi-ohm pod system for the first time.

Now, the multi-ohm pods — this is where things get really interesting. The new cartridges are labelled “0.7” on one side and “1.0” on the other. Flipping the pod switches between those two resistances, and double-tapping the button from either orientation gives you access to the 0.4Ω option. In practice, one side of the pod offers 0.4Ω and 0.7Ω, while the other offers 0.4Ω and 1.0Ω. It’s a clever system once you get your head around it, and it works seamlessly in daily use.
Both devices make it easy to confirm which mode you’re in — the G4’s screen immediately displays the active resistance when the pod is inserted, while the G4 Mini’s LED handles it through colour: white for 0.7Ω, green for 1.0Ω. Simple and effective. My one gripe with the pods themselves is that the resistance labelling printed on either side is remarkably difficult to see. You’d expect to be able to glance at the pod and instantly know which way to insert it for your preferred resistance, but in practice the text is so subtle you’re better off just relying on the device to tell you. It’s a small oversight on an otherwise well-thought-out system, and something I’d like to see addressed in a future iteration.

The G4 also features variable wattage with both manual adjustment and Smart Wattage, which automatically sets the optimal power level whenever you switch resistance. I experimented with tweaking the wattage manually within each resistance, but found the auto settings were pretty well calibrated — they work best as a starting point, and you can fine-tune from there if you want to.
The auto-draw activation is impressively responsive throughout, triggering reliably regardless of where you’ve set the airflow — something that trips up more than a few pod vapes when the airflow is opened right up. The stepless airflow slider on the back gives you smooth, precise control from a tight MTL draw all the way through to a more open RDL hit, which pairs perfectly with the multi-ohm pod options.

The G4 Mini, as with the G3 Mini before it, strips all of this back to something much simpler — and that’s entirely the point. There’s no button, no screen, and no menu to navigate. It’s draw-activated only, which means zero learning curve whatsoever. Resistance switching on the Mini works the same way as the G4 — flipping the pod moves between 0.7Ω and 1.0Ω — but the 0.4Ω option isn’t accessible on the Mini since that requires the button interaction. The LED strip on the front does double duty here, changing colour to indicate the active resistance (white for 0.7Ω, green for 1.0Ω) while also serving as a four-stage battery indicator. It’s a neat, elegant solution for a device that’s all about simplicity.
Both devices charge via USB-C, though their rates differ. The G4 supports a 2A charge rate, which gets the 1650mAh battery back to full in around 40 minutes — seriously fast for a battery this size. The G4 Mini steps down to 1.5A, bringing its charge time to around 55 minutes. Either way, downtime is minimal, and we’ll dig into real-world battery performance more in the performance section.
One thing worth highlighting for both devices — all previous Argus pods remain fully compatible, so if you’re upgrading from a G3 or earlier model, your existing pods will work just fine. That kind of cross-compatibility is always a welcome sign that VOOPOO is thinking about its customers rather than just pushing them towards new purchases.
PODS/COILS
If the multi-ohm pod system is the headline feature of the G4 series, then the coil technology powering it is the unsung hero. Both the G4 and G4 Mini come with VOOPOO’s new multi-ohm 3.5ml pods (2ml for TPD regions), and it’s these cartridges that really make the case for this being one of the most capable pod systems available right now.
The pods use VOOPOO’s iCOSM Code 2.0 technology — the same platform that impressed me so much in the G3 — but now paired with that clever multi-resistance design. In case you missed the G3 review, the short version is this: aerospace-grade Golden Cotton, a Mega-Core wicking layer, and a copper Liquid-Seal Shield that together produce a coil that fires consistently, wicks efficiently, and lasts considerably longer than most of the competition.
VOOPOO claims each pod can handle up to 100ml of e-liquid before any meaningful drop in performance, and based on my experience with the G3 pods — which I put well over 60ml through without any degradation — I have no reason to doubt that. The G4 pods appear to be built to the same standard, and early use has done nothing to suggest otherwise.
As covered in the Features section, the multi-ohm pods give you access to three resistance options. On the G4, that means 0.4Ω, 0.7Ω, and 1.0Ω all from a single cartridge. The G4 Mini is limited to 0.7Ω and 1.0Ω via the pod-flip mechanism, with the 0.4Ω option unavailable due to the Mini’s buttonless design. It’s worth keeping in mind if the lower resistance is important to your vaping style — the full G4 is the one to go for in that case.

The pods have a 3.5ml capacity and are tinted but transparent enough to check your e-liquid level without removing them from the device — a small but appreciated detail. Filling is done via a side-mounted silicone plug near the top, and you can refill without taking the pod out, which is convenient. The one frustration — and it’s the same one I flagged on the G3 — is the filling process itself. The internal coil housing creates two separate chambers inside the pod, which means you need to fill slowly and let the air bubbles work their way out before topping up fully. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it requires a bit more patience than a straightforward single-chamber fill.
In terms of compatible pods, both devices work with the full range of existing Argus cartridges alongside the new multi-ohm pods:
- ARGUS Multi-Ohm Pod (0.4Ω / 0.7Ω / 1.0Ω) — included
- Argus Top Fill Cartridge V2 0.4Ω
- Argus Top Fill Cartridge V2 0.7Ω
- All original V1 Argus cartridges
I had zero issues with leaking or spitback during testing, and the draw activation fired consistently every single time. Whatever VOOPOO is doing with this coil technology, it works — and the fact that it’s now housed inside a pod that can switch between three resistance levels without any drop in performance is a genuinely impressive achievement.
PERFORMANCE
After spending two weeks with both the G4 and G4 Mini as my daily drivers, I can say with confidence that these devices deliver where it matters most. The multi-ohm pod concept could easily have been a gimmick — one of those innovations that looks great on paper but falls apart in real-world use. It isn’t. Not even close.
I tested the G4 extensively across all three resistance settings, switching between styles throughout the day as I normally would. Starting with the 1.0Ω option for my morning nic salt sessions — airflow closed down, tight draw, high nicotine — the experience was exactly what I wanted. Smooth, satisfying, and flavourful without being harsh. It handles nic salts beautifully, delivering a clean throat hit and impressive flavour clarity that picks up the nuances in complex blends. Moving to the 0.7Ω option opened things up nicely into that sweet spot between loose MTL and a gentle restricted DL hit — this became my go-to setting for most of the day. The flavour here is outstanding. Rich, well-rounded, and consistent from the first puff to the last.
Switching to the 0.4Ω option for some evening RDL vaping — running a 70VG freebase liquid — the G4 shifts into a noticeably different beast. Vapour production increases substantially, the flavour takes on more warmth and body, and the whole experience feels closer to a sub-ohm setup than a pod vape. It’s not going to replace a dedicated RDL device for the most committed cloud chasers, but for a pod system it’s genuinely impressive, and the fact that you can flip between this and a tight MTL draw on the same device in two button clicks still feels like something of a small miracle.

The wicking kept up throughout — I deliberately tried to push it during chain vaping sessions at 0.4Ω and couldn’t get a dry hit. That’s a testament to what the iCOSM Code 2.0 technology is actually doing inside these pods. The auto-draw activation was flawless too, firing instantly and reliably at every airflow setting without a single misfire across two weeks of testing.
The G4 Mini performed with the same flavour quality in my testing — which is exactly what I found when comparing the G3 and G3 Mini. The iCOSM pods don’t seem to care what device they’re sitting in; the output is consistently excellent. Running the Mini predominantly on the 0.7Ω setting, the flavour was just as rich and satisfying as on the full G4. Something that surprised me during testing was that on the 0.7Ω setting, the MTL draw felt just as tight as the 1.0Ω — which I actually really liked. I did notice the G4 offered a very slightly tighter draw than the Mini overall, but I want to be clear — this is the kind of difference you’d only pick up if you were switching between the two devices side by side, as I was. In day-to-day use, both deliver a thoroughly satisfying MTL experience.

Battery life on both devices is exceptional for their size. The G4’s 1650mAh cell consistently got me through a full day of moderate-to-heavy use, averaging around three days at 0.7Ω and 18W — which is a significant step up from what I was getting with the G3. At 0.4Ω and higher wattages that drops, as you’d expect, but even then I was comfortably getting through a full day without reaching for the cable. The G4 Mini matched it closely, which is impressive given the identical battery capacity in a smaller chassis.
Charging the G4 from empty via its 2A USB-C port took around 40 minutes in my testing — genuinely fast for a 1650mAh battery, and one of the better charge times I’ve seen on a pod vape at this price point. The G4 Mini’s 1.5A charge rate brought it in at around 55 minutes. Neither figure is going to have you tethered to a wall for long.
One small gripe on the G4 — the display turns off after a few seconds while charging, so you have to press the button to check progress. It’s a minor inconvenience rather than a real problem, but it’s the kind of thing you notice when you’re topping up at your desk. Everything else about the performance of these two devices is difficult to fault.

VERDICT
The VOOPOO Argus G4 and G4 Mini are, quite simply, two of the best pod vapes I’ve tested. VOOPOO had already set a high bar with the G3 series, and rather than resting on that, they’ve come back with meaningful upgrades across the board — a bigger battery, faster charging, and a genuinely innovative multi-ohm pod system that actually delivers on its promise.
The multi-ohm pods are the real story here. The ability to switch between MTL and RDL vaping styles on a single device — without swapping coils or carrying multiple pods — is the kind of feature that sounds too good to be true, but in practice it works seamlessly. Add in the exceptional flavour and longevity of the iCOSM Code 2.0 technology, and you have a pod system that punches well above its price point.
The G4 is the one to go for if you want the full experience — all three resistance options, manual wattage control, and that stunning display. It’s ideal for vapers who like to switch up their style throughout the day, and equally well suited to beginners who want a device they can grow into without ever feeling limited by it. The G4 Mini is the perfect companion for anyone who wants that same outstanding flavour and battery performance in the simplest possible package — no menus, no settings, just great vaping.
The minor niggles — the fiddly dual-chamber filling, the fingerprint-prone smoked panel on the G4 — are just that: minor. They do nothing to detract from what are otherwise exceptional devices. If you’re in the market for a new pod vape, the Argus G4 series should be at the very top of your list. Highly recommended.
