The VMate E is the most premium and elegant edition of Voopoo’s popular VMate range.

It has a full metal design with leather styling on the front and comes with a detachable top cap.

The VMate E features a 1200mAh battery powered by the Gene.AI chipset with an automatic power setting and a 20W maximum output.

It’s an easy-to-use device with no buttons or fancy functions and is activated solely through auto-draw.

It also comes with two redesigned V2 pods, which feature improved performance, a dual-hole leakproof design, and an Antibacterial mouthpiece. There is a 0.7Ω and a 1.2Ω pod included in the kit.

The Voopoo VMate E is available in 6 colors: White & Gold, Red & Gold, Green & Gold, Classic Black, Classic Brown, and Classic Blue.

Voopoo VMate E Pod Kit Review

The Good

Elegant design, good build quality, easy-to-use, good battery life, adjustable airflow, and great flavor.

The Bad

Adjustable airflow was hit & miss with the 1.2Ω resistance pod.

The Bottom Line

The VMate E is an extremely attractive and elegant pod system. It’s an easy device to use, and while it does have some extra features over other VMate devices – larger battery and adjustable airflow. The significant performance improvement comes from the V2 pods that are easier to handle, leakproof, and produce a slightly better flavor. Fortunately, they can also be used in older VMate devices.

Design & Style

The VMate E is the elegant and luxurious version of the VMate devices by Voopoo.

It features a full Zinc Alloy body coated in a gold finish (with the ‘White & Gold’ we have for review) or other premium-looking styles. Then the whole front panel of the device has a white leather finish. I believe it’s fake leather, but it looks genuine and has a nice padded feel.

However, that gold finish isn’t the most resistant as I’ve already got several scratches and scuff marks where I’ve chucked the device in my bag. Other color variants may fair better.

The VMate E also carries a little more weight to it than most other pod systems due to the materials used. While this adds a more premium feel to the kit, it’s more apparent when carrying it in your pocket.

The finishing touch of styling comes from the top cap. This cap slots over the mouthpiece and onto the device to protect against dirt or fluff getting into the pod. The top cap clips into place well, with very little wiggle.

It has to be said that the cap really does transform the look of the VMate E when not in use, as it makes everything more symmetrical and unlike a vape device.

I wish there were somewhere to place the cap when not in use. With other similarly styled pod systems, we have seen that the cap could clip or magnetically attach to the base. Sadly, that’s not the case here.

There are 4 small holes in the leather panel with LEDs, which act as the device’s battery status.

Then on the side, you will find the airflow control slider. This has a nice knurled texture to it, and it’s easy to slide. It works for the intended purpose but isn’t the best airflow adjustment (as I’ll cover later).

On the base of the VMate E is the USB Type C port for charging the internal 1200mAh battery at a 1.2A charge rate. Just like with the device’s body, I have noticed a few scratches around the port.

There’s no denying that VMate E is an elegant and premium-looking pod system. While it’s a little too much for me with the styling, I do appreciate that it’s an attractive device. I think the Classic Black and Classic Brown variants offer the balance between sleek looks and premium styling.

Voopoo VMate E Pod Kit

Features

The VMate E comes with a 1200mAh internal battery, which can be charged via USB Type-C. It has a charge rate of 1.2A.

The VMate utilizes Voopoo’s Gene.AI chipset. This means it has automatic power output where it detects the resistance of the pod and sets the optimum power accordingly. The VMate E has a maximum power output of 20W.

The VMAte E (just like the VMate Infinity Edition) is backward compatible with all VMATE and V.THRU series pods/cartridges.

The device has no fire or function buttons; it works solely through the auto-draw function.

The device’s status can be shown via the 4 white LED lights on the front. The following is for battery status:

Battery Light Guide

  • 4 Lights = 100 to 75%
  • 3 Lights = 75 to 50%
  • 2 Lights = 50 to 25%
  • 1 Light = 25 tp 0%

The lights will also flash to show if there is any of the following:

  • Pod detected/undetected
  • Low power
  • Vape overtime
  • Short circuit
  • Overheat protection

While charging, the individual light will flash to show how far along your charge status is, with all lights illuminated when fully charged.

Pods

The pods that come with the VMate E are Voopoo’s new V2 versions that we covered in the review of the VMate Infinity kit (read that review for further details).

The top overview of these new pods is that Voopoo has improved the design for a better connection to the device. They have also improved the airflow system to make them leak-resistant.

Then there have introduced a ‘Fresnel lens design’ to prevent juice deterioration, and the pod has a 99% antibacterial rate.

All very fancy stuff. The most important thing from a user’s perspective is that these pods perform better than the previous version. They are also backward compatible, which is great.

Voopoo VMate E Pod Kit

The VMate E comes with two different resistance pods in the kit, both with a 3ml juice capacity (2ml TPD).

There is a 0.7Ω resistance pod (the same that comes with the Infinity Edition). Then the other is a 1.2Ω resistance pod which is better suited to MTL vaping and helps extend battery life.

The pods have a side fill port with a rubber plug (which also denotes the internal coil’s resistance). The fill port hole is nice and large and can accommodate any sized bottle tip.

The contoured mouthpiece of the VMate pods is very comfortable to use. Throughout my time using these new V2 pods, I had no issues whatsoever with spit back or leaking, which is great.

Performance

As we covered with the Infinity Edition review, the most significant part of the performance with the new VMate devices is the improved pods.

They work exceptionally well, and I believe they deliver a slight flavor improvement over the previous VMate pods.

So if you have an older VMate device, definitely look at getting some of these next time.

The 0.7Ω resistance pod delivers a warmer vape as you’d expect and a slightly looser draw. IT’s instant to heat and has excellent flavor production.

The 1.2Ω pod has a slightly tighter draw and a slightly cooler vape. However, the flavor is equally as good from this pod, in my opinion.

Voopoo VMate E Pod Kit

I preferred using the 1.2Ω throughout my testing. I don’t think there’s enough between the two pods to sacrifice battery life with the lower resistance.

It’s not plain sailing with the airflow adjustment slider. It does work to move you from what I would consider a loose MTL draw to a fairly tight MTL draw.

However, I noticed with the 1.2Ω pod that once I opened up the airflow to be more than halfway, there seemed to be too much air coming through for the auto-draw trigger to fire.

This was very strange as the auto-draw switch is very responsive otherwise, and Voopoo is renowned for having very good auto-draw. So this may just be an issue with our review sample and not production versions.

The 1200mAh battery does a good job of making it through a whole day of vaping, even more if you use the 1.2Ω resistance pod. The charge time is good with its 1.2A charge rate, but there is no passthrough, so you can’t use it while it’s charging.

Verdict

The VMate E delivers almost equal performance to the more affordable VMate Infinity Edition.

The new redesigned V2 pods deliver excellent performance on both devices.

While the extra battery capacity (300mAh more) and adjustable airflow are upgrades on the E version, I don’t feel there is enough to choose this model over the other Infinity.

However, suppose you want something that looks and feels much more premium. In that case, the VMate E is definitely one of the most elegant pod systems out there and will stand out from the crowd.
