VOOPOO VMATE E2 Review

Product Description

VOOPOO brings us the VMATE E2, a sophisticated evolution of their popular VMATE series.

This latest addition aims to deliver a more premium vaping experience with significant upgrades over its predecessor the VMATE E.

The VMATE E2 has a 1500mAh internal battery (up from 1200mAh), and features VOOPOO’s upgraded smart power system that adjusts between 8-30W.

It maintains the user-friendly approach but introduces a mini display with an RGB light bar, replacing the basic 4-LED system of its predecessor.

The kit comes equipped with VOOPOO’s new “3X Upgraded” pods, featuring both a 0.7Ω and 0.4Ω option with 3ml capacity (2ml TPD). These pods promise enhanced longevity and better flavor production.

The VMATE E2 is available in eight colorways: Seashell white, Rose red, Emerald green, Urban camo, Jet black, Lavender purple, Navy blue, and Walnut brown.

VOOPOO VMATE E2 Review

Design & Build Quality

The VOOPOO VMATE E2 takes a notable departure from both previous VMATE designs. It even steps up the luxurious design from its VMATE E predecessor.

While the original E model featured a single leather panel and gold accents, the E2 embraces a more contemporary look with its dual leather panel construction.

At 95mm x 33.5mm x 19mm, it’s actually shorter than its predecessors but slightly wider, creating a more substantial feel in the hand.

The most striking visual change is the double-sided leather panels, which cover both the front and back of the device. A significant upgrade from the VMATE E’s single-panel design.

The E2 also comes in a variation of interesting colors.

I’m testing the Seashell White and Lavender Purple versions. The shiny gold accents on the white version remind me of the original. But the Matte accents on the purple version are far more subtle.

And just take a look at the Lavender Purple version. That’s definitely not subtle. And while it’s not really my style, I know a few women who would really dig this color.

It’s also worth noting that the leather panels on both add excellent grip to the device.

The E2 has a zinc alloy frame, and is a touch weightier than the original at 92g. While this might seem heavy compared to plastic pod systems, the weight distribution feels purposeful and adds to the premium feel.

One of the E2’s standout features is the magnetic dust cap. Unlike the snap-on designs of old, these strong magnets provide a satisfying click and reliable protection for the mouthpiece. My only gripe is there’s nowhere to store the cap while vaping, an issue that persists from the previous model.

However, in terms of design, the most significant upgrade from the E is the inclusion of a display. A decent step up from the basic 4-LED indicator system of the VMATE E.

It’s housed on the side of the device, and the display sits behind a glossy bar that blends in with the frame. This is more apparent in the colored versions.

It is a very small display with minimal information. Still, it shows the battery percentage alongside an RGB light bar.

The E2 has an airflow control slider on the back panel. It offers better resistance and consistency than its predecessor’s occasionally finicky adjustment system.

The Type-C charging port’s placement on the bottom is practical, though it requires the device to be on its side while charging.

Overall, the VMATE E2’s design successfully balances form and function while making meaningful improvements over the previous generation. While the weight might not appeal to everyone, it’s a fair trade-off for the luxury looks and premium build quality.

VOOPOO VMATE E2

Features

The VOOPOO VMATE E2 does have some upgraded features compared to the VMATE E.

While its predecessor topped out at 20W with the Gene.AI chipset, the E2 now offers 8-30W smart power matching.

The battery capacity also significantly increased from 1200mAh to 1500mAh. Which in turn sees the charging speeds jump up from from 1.2A to 2A.

The most notable upgrade is replacing the VMATE E’s basic 4-LED indicator system with an RGB light bar and a digital display.

VOOPOO VMATE E2 Screen

It is a seamless display that shows precise battery percentages but not much else. However there is an RGB light bar that serves multiple functions:

  • Solid green when fully charged
  • Flowing animation while charging
  • Red flash for pod detection issues
  • Double red flash for short circuit protection

It’s all very visual and fancy. But not as practical as other premium pod vape displays.

The airflow slider covers a range of tight MTL draw to a restricted DL. The slider has just the right amount of resistance to prevent accidental adjustments.

The E2 also comes with a magnetic dust cap. The magnets are strong enough to keep it secure, though as mentioned in the design section, there’s no storage solution for the cap while vaping.

VOOPOO VMATE E2 Pod

Pods/Coils

The VOOPOO VMATE E2 comes equipped with VOOPOO’s “3X Upgraded” VMATE pods.

Unlike its predecessor (which shipped with a single pod), you get both resistance options in the box:

  • A 0.7Ω pod optimized for MTL vaping with nic salts
  • A 0.4Ω pod designed for RDL vaping with freebase nicotine

Each pod holds a generous 3ml of e-liquid (2ml for TPD regions).

VOOPOO makes some bold claims about these upgraded pods – promising up to 90ml of e-liquid life per pod and 30 days of leak-free performance.

From my experience with previous VMATE devices, they are pretty impressive pods with an excellent life span—more on this later.

The pods feature have a top-fill system that allows you to fill without removing the pod from the device. Just pull back the rubber stopper above where the pod sits, and you’re good to go.

VOOPOO VMATE E2 Pod

While this system works well, the rubber stopper can be a bit stubborn to open at first, requiring a bit more fingernail action than I’d like.

The pods do have a fair bit of tint to the plastic. While this helps preserve e-liquid from light degradation, it makes checking your juice level tricky without holding it up to a light. That said, since you can see the entire pod while it’s in the device, it’s not a major inconvenience.

The pods use a pressure-fit system with a slight magnetic assist for connection. You’ll hear a satisfying ‘click’ when the pod is properly seated, though I have noticed a tiny bit of wobble even when fully inserted. It’s not enough to affect performance, but it’s there if you’re looking for it.

These pods are backward compatible, so will work with older VMATE devices (and vice versa). Thank you VOOPOO.

VOOPOO VMATE E2

Performance

The VOOPOO VMATE E2 delivers a performance on par with all other VMATE products – which is excellent.

I’d even go as far as to say that due to its new power delivery (and the new pods), it’s a noticeable improvement over the VMATE E.

The 0.7Ω pod has become my go-to for MTL vaping. I’ve been using it with 25mg nic salts in both 50/50 and 60/40 VG/PG ratios, and it handles them beautifully.

The flavor production is exceptional – crisp, clean, and surprisingly nuanced. Even subtle flavor notes come through clearly, and this performance has remained consistent throughout testing.

Switching to the 0.4Ω pod with 6mg freebase (70/30), the device shows its versatility. While not a cloud-chasing device by any means, it produces satisfying vapor volume for a pod system.

The flavor remains excellent, though I noticed the mouthpiece can get a tad warm during extended RDL sessions.

I’ve been genuinely impressed with the longevity of both pods after two weeks of testing. The flavor hasn’t diminished significantly. I haven’t experienced any leaking or flooding issues.

It’s too early to verify VOOPOO’s 90ml lifespan claim. But I know from my testing of the VMATE i2 that’s not out of reach.

The auto-draw activation is among the best I’ve tested, showing improvement over the occasionally inconsistent performance of the previous E model. It’s responsive without being too sensitive, and I haven’t experienced any misfires or weak hits.

The airflow control is also great, offering a genuine range from a tight MTL to a restricted DL draw. The slider stays exactly where you set it, which wasn’t always the case with the original E.

VOOPOO’s smart power adjustment seems well-tuned. While you can’t manually adjust the wattage, I never felt the need to. The device consistently delivers appropriate power for both pods, resulting in a smooth, satisfying vape every time.

VOOPOO VMATE E2 USB-C Port

Battery Life & Charging

The 1500mAh battery is great, and a welcome upgrade from the VMATE E’s 1200mAh capacity.

With the 0.7Ω pod, I consistently got through 2-3 full days of moderate to heavy use before needing a recharge. The 0.4Ω pod, as expected, drains the battery faster, but I still managed a solid day and a half of regular use.

The USB-C 2A fast charging is also great.

In my testing, a full charge from empty took around 45-50 minutes – slightly longer than VOOPOO’s claimed 40 minutes, but still quick for a 1500mAh battery.

One minor annoyance is the lack of pass-through charging, meaning you can’t vape while charging.

PROS

  • Premium build quality
  • Excellent flavor from both pods
  • Strong magnetic dust cap protection
  • Smart power matching works well (8-30W)
  • Large 1500mAh battery capacity (up from 1200mAh)
  • Fast 2A charging (improved from 1.2A)
  • Precise airflow control
  • Clear battery percentage display
  • Both MTL and RDL pods included
  • Backwards compatible with VMATE pods
  • Convenient top-fill system
  • No leaking or dry hits

CONS

  • Relatively heavy at 92g
  • No pass-through charging
  • Dust cap has nowhere to store while vaping
  • Mouthpiece gets warm during chain vaping (0.4Ω)
VOOPOO VMATE E2

Verdict

The VOOPOO VMATE E2 may not have all the flashy features of other premium pod vapes, but that doesn’t make it any less premium.

It delivers a fantastic vape experience from the excellent (long-lasting) pods. And delivers it all from a luxurious-looking and easy-to-use device.

It has an impressive battery and fast charging. Also the adjustable airflow and power delivery, give it the versatility to cover both MTL and RDTL vaping.

It’s not perfect; some might hate the leather panels, dust cap, and weight.

I think it’s definitely a step up from the VMATE E. I loved my time testing it, although that’s been primarily down to those fantastic VMATE pods.

The VMATE E2 is an easy recommendation for both MTL and casual RDL vapers looking for a more sophisticated pod system.
