Product Description
Hot on the heels of the VMATE MAX we tested from VOOPOO, they give us the VMate i2 (Infinity 2).
The i2 is a simplified pod vape version of the MAX. But it still aims to bring some notable upgrades over its predecessors.
The VMate i2 houses an impressive 1500mAh internal battery, a big step up from the previous 900mAh capacity.
It’s designed with simplicity in mind, featuring auto-draw activation and no adjustable wattage.
The VMate i2 comes with the new “3X Upgraded” VMate pods. These side-fill pods promise a 90-day coil lifespan and 30 days of leak-free use. The kit includes a single 0.7Ω pod for MTL vaping.
The VMATE i2 also comes with adjustable airflow, a 256-color RGB light bar (battery gauge), and supports USB-C charging.
The VMate i2 is available in seven colors: Matte Black, Dawn Blue, Space Grey, Forest Green, Neon, Rosy, and Ruby Red.

Design & Build Quality
The VOOPOO VMate i2 continues the sleek look of the VMate line while introducing some fresh design elements.
At 113.7mm x 28.5mm x 15mm, it’s noticeably taller than its predecessor (the VMate Infinity) but maintains a similar width and depth.
This increased height gives the i2 a more balanced look, shedding the ‘stubby’ appearance of earlier VMate models.

Constructed from aluminum alloy, the VMate i2 sports a premium matte metallic finish that’s really pleasant to touch.
Unlike the MAX’s zinc alloy body, the i2’s aluminum build keeps it lightweight despite its larger battery capacity.
VOOPOO offers the i2 in two different patterns. Depending on the color you get, there’s either a circular pattern or a ‘V’ shaped one.
We have the Forest Green (V pattern) and Rosy (circular pattern) for review. Although I’m more drawn to the green colored device, I do like the detailed pattern on both.
The unique design feature of the VMate i2 is the RGB light bar on the side, which acts as the battery indicator. It’s obviously not as fancy as the MAX’s hidden screen. But it is a more affordable, and simple device.
While it does add a touch of flair, I’m not entirely sold on it’s functionality (more on this later)

The pod connection on the i2 ditches magnets in favor of a pressure-fit system. While this might not be as satisfying as the MAX’s magnetic attachment, it still fits securely.
On the back of the device, you’ll find the airflow control slider. It’s positioned well for easy adjustment with your thumb while vaping. The slider moves smoothly but has enough resistance to prevent accidental changes.
The bottom of the i2 features a USB-C port surrounded by a ribbed rubber piece, which helps the device stand upright on flat surfaces. This is a small detail, but something I like to see in a pod vape.
Overall, the VMate i2’s design and build quality is great. It is a streamlined design, but still manages to feel premium and in keeping the VMATE styling.
Features
The VOOPOO VMate i2 takes a streamlined approach to features, focusing on simplicity and ease of use.
It’s powered by an impressive 1500mAh internal battery (600mAh more than its predecessor).
Unlike the MAX, which offers adjustable wattage, the VMate i2 employs VOOPOO’s smart power system. This automatically adjusts the output based on the pod resistance, ranging from 8W to 30W.
The device features auto-draw activation, eliminating the need for any buttons.

The i2’s features a unique 256-color RGB light bar. This serves a dual purpose: it adds a stylish accent to the device and acts as a battery level indicator.
The light bar gauge is as follows:
- Fully lit = 75%-100% charge
- 3/4 lit = 50%-75% charge
- Half lit = 25%-50% charge
- 1/4 lit = below 25% charge
While it’s not as precise as a numerical display, it gets the job done.

Airflow control is managed via a slider on the back of the device. Ranging from a tight MTL draw to a looser, more airy hit.
The VMate i2 supports USB-C charging, although at a standard 1A rate rather than the 2A fast charging of the MAX. This means a full charge takes about 1.5 hours – not the quickest, but still reasonable given the large battery capacity.
While the VMate i2 doesn’t offer the same level of customization as the MAX (there’s no adjustable wattage or multiple modes), its feature set is well-tailored to its target audience.
Pods/Coils
The VOOPOO VMate i2 utilizes the same “3X Upgraded” VMATE pods we saw in our review of the VMATE MAX. As such, many of our findings from that review apply here as well.
In the box, you get a single pod:
A 0.7Ω pod optimized for MTL vaping (3ml capacity, 2ml for TPD regions)
This pod uses the same side-fill design we praised in the MAX review, allowing for easy refilling without removing the pod from the device.
As we noted in our MAX review, these pods deliver excellent flavor and impressive longevity. VOOPOO’s claims of a 90ml lifespan and 30 days of leak-free use held up well in our extended testing of the MAX, so we expect similar performance here.

The VMate i2 is backwards compatible with all previous VMATE pods, offering great flexibility. It can also use the 0.4Ω pod designed for the MAX, though this isn’t included in the i2 kit.
Overall, based on our extensive testing with these pods in the MAX review, we expect the VMate i2 to deliver the same high-quality vaping experience.
The flavor production, wicking efficiency, and pod longevity should be on par with what we saw in the MAX, making these pods a strong selling point for the i2.
Performance
The VOOPOO VMate i2 delivers a vaping experience that’s remarkably similar to the VMATE MAX.
I’ve been using the included 0.7Ω pod extensively with both 50/50 and 70/30 VG/PG e-liquids. The pod handles them well, with no signs of dry hits or leaking, even during chain vaping sessions.
The flavor production is excellent, rivaling what we experienced with the MAX. It’s crisp, clean, and surprisingly nuanced, highlighting subtle notes. The pod seems to break in quickly, delivering full flavor almost immediately after the first fill.

My experience with this 0.7Ω was precisely the same as with the MAX, which is great.
Unlike the MAX, the VMate i2 doesn’t offer adjustable wattage. But the intelligent power mode works well, providing a consistent vape that feels optimized for the 0.7Ω resistance.
The auto-draw activation is responsive and reliable. I never experienced any misfires or weak hits, even when taking gentler puffs. It’s as good as any auto-draw system I’ve used.
Airflow control on the VMate i2 is great. The slider allows for precise adjustments, ranging from a tight MTL to very lost MTL draw.
Battery life is super impressive. The 1500mAh capacity lasted me two days of moderate to heavy vaping. It’s a noticeable improvement over previous VMATE models and even outperforms the MAX.
It’s a good job battery life is so good because charging is a bit underwhelming. The slow 1A charging takes about 1.5 hours. 2A charging like the MAX would’ve been the icing on the cake, but it’s not a deal breaker for the affordable price.
One quirk I noticed is that the device can get a bit warm during extended vaping sessions. It’s not uncomfortable or concerning, but it is noticeable, especially if you’re chain vaping.
As for pod longevity, I’ve been using the same pod for over two weeks now, and it’s still going strong. The flavor is still on point, and I haven’t noticed any significant drop-off. As with the MAX, VOOPOO’s claims about improved longevity seem to hold water.
It’s worth noting that you only get one 0.7Ω pod in the kit. So out of the box, you’re limited to MTL vaping. This isn’t necessarily a con, as the device is clearly aimed at MTL vapers, but it’s something to keep in mind if you prefer a looser draw.
Overall, the VMate i2 delivers a top-notch MTL vaping experience. While it lacks the power adjustability of the MAX, its smart mode does a great job of optimizing performance.

Verdict
The VOOPOO VMate i2 stands as a solid evolution in the VMATE line.
The new upgrades, especially the 1500mAh battery, go a long way (literally).
The performance with the 0.7Ω pod for MTL vaping is as good as any I’ve tried this year (MAX included).
A lot of that, however, is down to the new pods. If you already own a previous VMATE, give them a whirl.
So, if you’re not fussed about adjustable power and a fancy screen, then VMATE i2 can deliver a perfect MTL vape at a fraction of the price of the MAX.
The RGB light bar adds a bit of flair and style but isn’t as intuitive as a regular LED gauge or display.
I’d say the VMATE i2 is the ideal device for beginners or smokers. It delivers a perfect MTL vape and is reliable and long-lasting without complicated settings.
I enjoyed my time using it, and highly recommended it. It may not be the most feature-packed device on the market, but what it does, it does exceptionally well.
