Wismec R80 Pod Mod | Preview

The Wismec R80 Kit is the latest entry into the ever-developing AIO/pod mod category.

It’s following hot on the heels of the Smok RPM and VooPoo Vinci kits, and while having a similar design factor, the R80 also comes pretty stacked with features.

Firstly, the Wismec R80 is an 80W maximum device and is powered by a replaceable 18650 battery. It also features a USB type-c port on the base for fast charging.

The R80 also sports a 0.96 inch TFT color screen on the front of the device along with the +/- and the button.

The pod for the R80 has a 4ml capacity (2ml for TPD), and it slots into the device held in place by magnets. It also has a separate dust cap to protect the mouthpiece.

Wismec has also decided to include a 510 adapter, so you slot that onto the device and use your own tank. Although it may look a little awkward and I wouldn’t use a large tank as it may be too heavy for the device.

The R80 comes with two coils in the kit, a WV01 0.8ohm coil, and a WV-M 0.3ohm mesh coil. The base for the coils also has an AFC ring, so you should be able to control the airflow for either a DTL or MTL vape.

The Wismec R80 is available in 5 colors: Classic Legend, Meteor Shower, Northern Lights, Ocean Star, and Quantum World.

It’s pretty evident that at present, a lot of manufacturers are going all-in on portable AIO or pod mod style devices.

While the Wismec R80 is certainly quite stylish in its design, I’m not sure if it will have enough to make it truly stand out in the crowd.

That being said, I’m glad that Wismec went straight with the removable 18650 format, and a big thumbs up for using a USB type-c port.

Also, a full airflow control ring on the pod is another solid move.

As for just how good the R80 performs will come down to the available coils, so we’ll have to wait and see. I also hope that Wismec releases an RBA coil head further down the line for further customization.
