Wotofo finally changing Gears.

What is it?

The Wotofo Gear V2 RTA is the latest RTA release from Wotofo and is an upgrade to the incredibly popular OFRF Gear RTA.

OFRF made such an impact with the Gear RTA and their NEXMEsh technology that Wotofo bought out the company. They have since released some great atomizers, including the NexMesh Pro Tank, NexMesh Sub Ohm Tank, and the Profile 1.5 RDA.

So what’s new with the Wotofo Gear V2 RTA?

Wotofo has made a rather bold choice in changing the styling and materials of the Gear RTA. It is now primarily made from PCTG plastic and resembles a pod tank instead of an RTA.

The Gear V2 RTA has kept that same compact stealthy form as the original, only measuring 38.5mm tall.

The short distance from the coil to the mouthpiece is what made the original Gear RTA deliver excellent flavor. Wotofo has now molded the mouthpiece and top cap into one plastic piece to keep that short travel distance for vapor.

The top cap can be removed so the Gear V2 RTA can be filled from the top, just like its predecessor.

Its compact size also means it’s slightly shy on the juice capacity at 3.5ml (or 2ml TPD).

Despite looking like a pod tank or disposable sub-ohm tank, the Gear V2 RTA is a fully-fledged RTA.

The build deck is for single coils and has 2 pan screws like the original to secure the coil. However, they have increased the size of the chamber with the V2.

Another range move is the Gear V2 does not have adjustable airflow. Instead, there are two new airflow inlets in the deck. Wotofo states there is no need to adjust the airflow as it is built for the optimal airflow setting! and the design eliminates the chance of leaking.

Wotofo is always generous with spares, and in the kit you get 2 coils, 2 cotton strips, a screwdriver, and other accessories.

The Wotofo Gear V2 RTA is available in 6 colors; Black, Gunmetal, SS, Blue, Gold, and Rainbow.

Who is it for?

Vapers who want a compact single-coil RTA that can deliver excellent flavor.

Wotofo really has made some strong choices with the design of the Gear V2 RTA.

As a fan of the original, I’m really pleased to see they kept the compact design that led to such a flavor banger.

However, I’m not sure what to make of the change in material to mainly PCTG plastic. While it is a bit different from other RTAs, it does make it look a little cheap.

However I guess they have to be commended for trying something a little different.

I’m also shocked that Wotofo has made the airflow non-adjustable! I can’t even think of any RTA that doesn’t have adjustable airflow.

As someone who is very particular about my draw for single-coil vapes (I like quite a restricted DTL), I’m going to hold judgment on the airflow until I test it.

But I’d be surprised if (as Wotofo claims) they have made the optimal airflow for everyone. I can certainly see it dividing opinion when it hits the market.

I’m sure it will deliver on flavor, but we’ll have to wait and see if it will be as popular as the original.
