THC Cartridges: The Do’s & Don’ts for Pre-Filled Oil Vape Cartridges

Vape pens are incredibly popular for nicotine and cannabis consumption because they’re so easy to use, portable, and efficient. However, although using vape pens is relatively straightforward, there are some best practices to follow when using them.

In this article, we’ll detail the dos and don’ts of using pre-filled oil vape cartridges to ensure you have the best experience:

The Basics of the Battery

The battery is the most critical part of your vape pen; if you damage the battery, you have significant issues. The best option is purchasing a highly rated 510 threaded vape battery from a reputable company. To switch on the vape pen, screw on your pre-filled oil vape cartridge, press the fire button five times and wait for the vape pen to illuminate.

Many vape pens have three heat settings: low, medium, and high. These heat settings typically come with colors: green for low, blue for medium, and red for high. For optimum flavor, you should vape at low heat. If you want bigger hits and you’re experienced at vaping, select the medium heat setting.

Although it’s tempting to use the high heat setting, we strongly advise against this. You don’t need to heat the atomizer that high to vaporize cannabis oil. Instead, the high heat may leave your vape pen prone to clogging. The oil and atomizer may become charred if the cartridge doesn’t back up, which may spoil the entire taste and cartridge life span.

Taking the Best Hits

Your instincts may believe that you need a hard pull with plenty of suction to achieve a big hit; however, that’s not the case with vape pens. In truth, vape pens don’t require much airflow, so it’s best to imagine you’re smoking a cigarette or a joint. Taking more extensive hits is harsher on your lungs and increases the chances of clogging your vape pen.

Therefore, we recommend taking gentler, smaller hits on a low heat setting. Simply draw the vapor into your mouth by using your cheek muscles and pull the vapor into your lungs. If you keep the vapor in your lungs for a prolonged time, you can still enjoy a strong hit without clogging your vape pen.

Using the Vape Pen

Many vape pens are button-fired. By pressing the button, you’ll give power to the heating coil and heat the cannabis oil. For the best experience, hit the button, wait for a second, begin your inhale, and release the button a second before your hit ends.

You shouldn’t press the button multiple times during a hit. The warm, vaporized oil will head into the chamber once you’ve fired the coil by pressing the button once.

If you warm the oil without drawing on the vape, you may char the product, which can result in losing flavor and vaporization in the cartridge. However, you’ll cool the atomizer and oil around it by releasing the button before the conclusion of the draw.

Maintaining the Vape Pen

The most significant mistake people make is failing to maintain their vaping devices. If you want a device to last a long time, you must regularly look after it. If your vape pen doesn’t offer the same quality vapor, it’s a sign you should clean it.

First, you should always read the user’s manual. Some vaping devices may have different cleaning requirements, so ensure you read everything. If the users manual doesn’t have any cleaning tips, this guide will help you safely clean your vape pen:

1. Cleaning the Tank

Cleaning the tank is essential. You should bring the coil out If a vape pen has a separable tank. Then, detach the tank from the pen and pour the residue down the sink. If there’s still some residue left, put the tank back on the vape pen and power it up for two to three minutes to loosen and burn off stubborn residue. After that, take the tank apart and clean the parts with warm water.

Ensure you don’t get water in the buttons, battery sections, and charging port. Then, use a microfiber towel to remove water from the components. You can also air dry the parts and wait until they’re dry before putting the tank back together.

If your vape pen is a one-piece design, it can be tricky to clean it because you can’t use water. The best way to clean a one-piece design is to use a Q-tip.

2. Cleaning the Vape Coil

The other part of the cleaning process is the vape coil. You must maintain the vape coil to deliver the flavor of your chosen vape. There are two types of vape coils: replaceable coils and rebuildable coils. With replaceable coils, you can soak the parts in vodka, vinegar, or ethanol for a couple of hours before rinsing them out with running water.

With rebuildable coils, you have to remove the wick from the coils. If your coils don’t look dirty, you can simply do a fast burn-off whereby you fire a button twice to remove the remaining vape liquid.

Once the coil has cooled off, you can return the wick. If the coils still look unclean after the burnout, you can conduct some deeper cleaning. Brush them with a coin cleaning tool and an old toothbrush before rinsing them under water.

How to Remove Clogs in Your Vaping Device

Clogging isn’t uncommon; all vape pens can clog at times. However, it’s always highly frustrating. If your vaping device clogs, some devices include a heating function that helps get rid of the blockage.

However, you should only use this to clear clogs; pre-heating the oil can lead to additional clogging and charring of the liquid, which won’t result in bigger hits.

If you need to use the heating function to remove clogs, press the beaker twice in a quick sequence. That way, you’ll initiate a low-voltage current through the atomizer to begin heating the device.

Then, wait around three to five seconds after the double-tap before taking a gentle draw from the pen. Do some light draws to enable the timer to run out for 15 seconds. As a result, you’ll pop the clog and allow your vape to return to business as usual.

You may need to conduct a more involved fix if you encounter severe blockages. The solution could be as straightforward as placing a toothpick up and down the opening of a cartridge to clear oil building up around the vapor shaft. You should do this with the cartridge at room temperature.

Final Thoughts

A vape pen with a pre-filled oil vape cartridge is easy to use. These vape pens offer an excellent vaping experience, portability, and simplicity.

If you follow the dos and don’ts in this article, you’ll have no issues with your vape pen.
