  • Protected glass
  • Cross series coils
1Intro
Aspire Nautilus 2 Tank

The Aspire Nautilus 2 tank has to have been one of the most hyped and anticipated releases by a vape company this year. Aspire even produced a lot of drama around its release and didn’t even publish photos of it until the last minute.

The Nautilus 2 uses the original 1.8 BVC coils, so it is cross compatible with the old Nautilus. However they have also released a .7 ohm coils, so now the Nautilus 2 is also capable of sub-ohming. It’s great that Aspire is providing options for both mouth-to-lung and sub ohm vapers.

I’m looking forward to this one….. is this going to vape better than the original? Let’s find out.

Aspire Nautilus 2 Tank

There’s a lot to love about the Nautilus 2 design. The bell-shaped top is a throwback to the Nautilus and Nautilus Mini. It’s a tank that knows its origins and shows them proudly, but at the same time will not look out of place on new overly designed mods. The looks might divide some, but I love the simplistic styling. It also has an anodized finish which gives it a rather nice matte look and feel.

As with most of Aspire’s tanks, it is machined well with no crunching or screeching of threads. The one big design change over the original Nautilus is that it is top fill. Simply unscrew the top bell cap and dump your e-liquid into the glass chamber. The only caveat with this form of top-fill is it does tend to flood the coil a little at the point of being refilled.

The other particularly nice touch is the center of the tank is not entirely glass. The bell top cap acts as a stainless steel shell, protecting the glass and increasing durability. The Nautilus 2 also comes with 2 drip tips, one that matches the tank and the other is stainless steel.

It’s a solid well-made superbly designed piece of kit, and in the time I’ve been using it, there’s been absolutely no leaking whatsoever.

4Performance
Aspire Nautilus 2 Tank

First and foremost the Nautilus 2 is a mouth-to-lung tank and an amazingly good one at that. However, I was also impressed with the 0.7-ohm coils for direct-to-lung vaping – more on that later.

Considering it uses the exact same coils as the original Nautilus, you’d think it just vapes like a Nautilus in an updated shell. But boy does that new design make a difference. Aspire must have worked hard on creating the perfect design and airflow, especially for mouth-to-lung vaping – The flavor production is fantastic

I found with the 1.8-ohm coils; I was getting the best performance at around 12-13 watts. Then with the 0.7-ohm sub ohm coils at 20-23 watts.

As someone who likes both mouth-to-lung and sub-ohm vaping. I mainly stuck with the 0.7-hm coils; I really enjoyed the fact I was getting great blasts of flavor and a decent amount of vapor without creating too much of a scene when I was out and about.

The only one negative in using the sub-ohm coils is you do go through a lot more juice, and with a tiny 2ml capacity you’ll be filling this tank a lot. I get that Aspire have tried to make it TPD compliant and keep it a nice compact design, and that’s great for the 1.8-ohm MTL coils. Just be warned if you are primarily looking to use the sub-ohm coils.

That being said, almost everything about this tank smashes the Nautilus X in terms of performance.

Likes

  • Compact design
  • Great flavor
  • Perfect airflow for MTL vaping
  • Protected glass
  • Looks great
  • TPD compliant
  • Cross series coils

Dislikes

  • Small juice capacity (due to being TPD compliant)
  • Airflow control ring doesn’t click like the Nautilus Mini
9Verdict

Overall, the Nautilus 2 is an outstanding MTL tank. It’s perfect for beginners and regular MTL vapers alike. With the inclusion of the sub-ohm coils, it also gives new vapers the chance to delve into the world of sub-ohming, and those coils perform admirably.

Aspire took all of the best features from their original, and made some impressive design tweaks. The Nautilus 2 was everything I was hoping it was going to be, and more.

If you are a MTL vaper searching for a new tank. In my mind, the Nautilus 2 is the perfect choice – this is one of the best mouth-to-lung tanks on the market right now.
