The Kroma Nova features variable wattage up to 60W, a built-in 3000mAh battery, adjustable airflow control, and compatibility with Innokin’s PZP coil range with resistances from 0.4-1.2Ω.

There’s an OLED screen, an intuitive firing button, and USB-C fast charging onboard.

It also comes with a 3ml pod that features an easy-to-use slide-to-fill system.

Kroma Nova Pod Kit – Back

Design & Build Quality

Cracking open the Kroma Nova box reveals a sleek, futuristic-looking device with smooth curves and clean lines.

The rounded rectangular shape fits nicely and comfortably in my hand. Despite the internal 3000mAh battery, it still feels relatively pocketable at just 116.33mm x 39.15mm x 30.76mm – But it is on the weighty side at 147g.

Innokin utilizes a durable zinc alloy for the Nova’s chassis, with a leather panel on one side that provides some nice grip. The leather feels high quality, with “NOVA” embossed right into the material. The zinc frame has a matte texture that resists fingerprints well.

Kroma Nova Pod Kit – Buttons

The firing button and OLED sit neatly recessed into one flattened edge. Innokin smartly designed the large, transparent button to also serve as a screen cover, clearly displaying info beneath. The +/- buttons below deliver a satisfying click.

The sleek Kroma Nova pod tank is included in the kit, which magnetically clicks securely into place. There’s no wiggle or play once attached. The pod sports a handy top sliding mechanism that effortlessly reveals two generous fill ports, making e-liquid refills a breeze.

Also included are two drip tips, one for MTL vaping and the other for a looser RDL draw. These slot in and out of the pod easily without fuss. Most standard 510 tips should fit, too.

Kroma Nova Pod Kit – Leather Panel

I’m impressed by the smoothness of the side airflow control slider. Using just a thumb, you can finely tune the draw with no snags. The slider stays firmly in place, too, thanks to well-implemented friction.

The construction seems durable, showing no signs of wear and tear even after two weeks of trekking about daily in my pocket.

I’m always impressed by Innokin’s meticulous attention to detail on both aesthetics and solid functionality. The Kroma Nova feels like a well-engineered, high-end vaping kit destined to last.

Features & Functions

The Kroma Nova comes packed with features to deliver a customizable vaping experience.

It’s powered by a long-lasting 3000mAh battery and offers variable wattage from 6-60W. Wattage can be adjusted in 0.5W increments.

The Kroma Nova has a large OLED screen, which is bright and crisp. It displays all the essential info from selected wattage, battery level, resistance, and puff timer.

Making operation a breeze is Innokin’s handy Smart Coil ID system. It accurately detects coil resistances from 0.4-1.2Ω and suggests ideal wattages. Of course, you can manually override this too.

Also handy is the intuitive firing method – just squeeze anywhere around the screen/button area. This feels more natural than locating a small button, especially for stealthier vaping. There are also dedicated + and – buttons for quickly adjusting wattage to your liking.

The Kroma Nova also features adjustable airflow covering both MTL and DL draws.

It is rechargeable via USB-C and has a fast charge rate of 1.7A. It can fully charge in approximately 60 minutes.

Lastly, onboard safety features like overheating, low resistance, short circuit, and 10-second cutoff protections are all present, as you’d expect from Innokin.

Kroma Nova Pod Kit – Pod & Coils

Pods/Coils

The Kroma Nova utilizes Innokin’s new plug-and-play PZP coil system, which is designed for easy swapping.

Included are two coils:

  • 1.0Ω MTL mesh coil (pre-installed)
  • 0.4Ω DL mesh coil.

However, the Nova supports resistances ranging from 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω, and other coils are available to purchase separately.

Swapping coils takes just seconds, too – flip up the pod cap, pull the old coil out by the base, and gently push the new coil into place. There are no leaks or mess; the Kroma pod seals tightly.

Kroma Nova Pod Kit – Fill Port

Refilling the smooth, contoured 3ml pod (2ml TPD) is a cinch thanks to an innovative sliding top-fill method – the same we’ve seen in Innokin’s Zenith tanks.

Just locate the marked triangle notch and push it up to open. There’s a large filling port that gives ample room to squeeze in nozzle tips without messy spills. The bung-free design is secure and leak-resistant during transport.

The transparent plastic sides of the pod also let you monitor juice levels. However, it is very tinted, and I struggled to see my levels more than other pods.

Performance

Having recently tested my share of small MTL pod kits, I was craving something with more oomph and power.

I was instantly impressed with Kroma Nova. It can deliver power in DL mode and is still perfectly versatile for some laid-back MTL vaping.

There are not many pod mods of this size that can cater to both types of vaping seamlessly.

I started testing with the 0.4Ω coil, and right off the bat, it hit me like no other Innokin coil has done previously.

I’ve always been under the impression that Innokin makes great MTL coils but tends to fall short of the competition with the lower-resistance DL coils.

Boy, was I wrong!

The new PZP 0.4Ω is excellent. It delivers fantastically full-bodied flavor and more than ample clouds. I could definitely taste some of the nuances in my juices that other coils seem to miss.

I found my sweet spot to be around 35-40W, with the airflow halfway open. It gives a saturated and slightly restricted DL draw.

Opening the airflow will give you more vapor, but at the expense of some of the flavor, in my opinion, and that 3ml pod won’t last as long.

Kroma Nova Pod Kit – Airflow

When I switched to the 1.0Ω coil, flavors seemed slightly less saturated at the lower 18-20W range, but still among the better MTL pod kits I’ve tried.

All the finer details in my favorite Naked100 juice came through clean without harshness – it’s a smooth and satisfying vape.

You can definitely get a tight MTL draw with the airflow almost closed off. I preferred it a little more open for a looser draw.

That’s where the Nova really shines – in its versatility of airflow. I’ve seen many larger pods attempt both MTL and RDL and fall short in one way or another – not this.

Getting back to that 0.4Ω coil wide open, my mod-loving side couldn’t help but be impressed.

The only thing that would prevent me from reaching for the Nova over a mod and tank is the limited 3ml capacity.

After over 60mL of assorted sweet 70VG juices, both the 0.4Ω and 1.0Ω coils are still going strong – no noticeable degradation or wicking issues.

Kroma Nova Pod Kit – USB-C

I can’t give a complete lifetime coil estimate yet. But they’ve easily surpassed the two-week mark, and I can see them going a few more.

The 3000mAh battery does a great job. Especially when paired with the 1.0Ω coil, you can have days before needing a charge. With the 0.4Ω and high wattages, you’ll last a day.

While not A+ across the board, the Nova delivers well-above-average vapor and outstanding flavor for a pod kit.

I’d confidently stack it against the top contenders on the market right now for the best versatile pods under $50 pricing.

With its versatility and many coil options, I struggle to fault the capable Kroma Nova.

It gives you big mod satisfaction wherever you fall on the MTL-DTL spectrum.

Verdict

Innokin has done a great job with the Kroma Nova. I’m totally impressed.

While it might not be the best performer outright in any one area, the Nova gets almost everything right.

It’s well built, incredibly easy to use, has adjustable wattage and airflow, and can deliver for both MTL & RDL vaping.

The PZP coils are fabulous and deliver excellent flavor with above-average longevity. There are also plenty of resistance options.

If you are looking for a pocket-friendly MTL pod, the Kroma Nova is probably not the best choice. It’s a bit too large and cumbersome compared to a Caliburn or Xros.

However, if, like me, you want the power and flexibility of a sub-ohm mod in a pod that can cover both MTL & DL vaping – the Kroma Nova is an awesome option.
