The Dillon EM is a compact pod vape from Uwell that has a clever trick up its sleeve.

It features innovative “EM-LOCK” technology, which uses an electromagnetically activated shield to control the flow of e-liquid to the wick. 

This ingenious feature effectively prevents leaking and helps maintain the freshness of your vape juice.

The Dillon EM is draw-activated and can cater to tight MTL to a loose MTL/RDL, depending on the pod and airflow orientation. 

The device comes with a 0.6Ω and a 0.9Ω pod, which have a 2.5ml capacity.

It’s powered by a 900mAh battery that supports 2A Type-C fast charging.

The Dillon EM is available in four color options: Silver Quartz Fiber, Off-White Microarc, Purple Aura Quartz, and Luxury Black Gold.

Design & Build Quality

I was immediately impressed by the design of Uwell Dillon EM, not just because it’s modern and sleek looking but also because it feels sturdy and well-constructed. 

The whole device has an excellent smooth matte finish to it, with a ribbed texture on the back, adding a grippy feel. 

I particularly love the Off White and Silver Fiber versions. The branding looks different on each of the versions we have for review, but it’s subtle and elegantly done on each one.

The Dillon EM is a stubbier and more square form factor compared to something like the Calibirn G3, which also means it sits perfectly in the palm of your hand for stealth vaping.

It measures 95.9mm x 24.1mm x 21.6mm, and its lightweight construction (~53g) makes it perfect for slipping into a pocket or purse for on-the-go vaping. 

Despite its small size, the Dillon EM feels robust and well-built, giving me confidence in its durability.

The sides of the device feature a bar LED indicator that displays your battery life in three colors: green, blue, or red. 

While the LED placement on the sides could be more practical, as it can be difficult to see while vaping, it’s a minor issue that doesn’t detract from the overall design.

One of the standout features of the Dillon EM’s design is the large e-juice window cutout on the front of the device. This transparent section allows you to easily monitor your e-liquid levels without having to remove the pod. 

The window also provides a fascinating glimpse into the workings of the innovative EM-LOCK technology, which I’ll discuss in more detail later.

The pods themselves are equally impressive in terms of design and build quality. They are completely clear, which is a nice departure from other over-tinted pods. 

The non-removable coils are visible within the pods, surrounded by the innovative EM-LOCK shield, which adds an interesting visual element to the device.

Rounding off the design, you have one small airflow hole on the right side of the device – more on this later.

Then, on base is the USB-C port for 2A fast charging of the 900mAh cell.

Overall, the Uwell Dillon EM showcases a sleek, subtle design and impressive build quality.

Features

The Uwell Dillon EM is an easy-to-use and relatively stripped-back pod vape.

There is no screen, adjustable wattage, or fully adjustable airflow.

However, it does offer one innovative feature that sets it apart from other pod vapes on the market. That is the groundbreaking “EM-LOCK” technology in the pod, which utilizes an electromagnetically activated shield to control the flow of e-liquid to the wick. 

I’ll cover how this works more in the Pod section of this review.

While the Dillon EM does not have fully adjustable airflow, each pod has two airflow options depending on how it’s inserted into the device. 

The 0.9Ω pod offers a tight MTL draw when inserted one way and a medium MTL draw when rotated 180 degrees. 

Similarly, depending on its orientation, the 0.6Ω pod can deliver a medium MTL draw or a loose MTL/RDL draw. 

While the airflow isn’t fully adjustable, I found that the two options for each pod provide a satisfying range of draw styles to suit different vaping preferences. 

But some will be disappointed not to have full airflow control.

The Dillon EM has a 900mAh battery, which is good for a device of this size. It supports 2A Type-C charging, which means you can go from empty to fully charged in just 30 minutes.

Another minor drawback of the Dillon EM is the lack of adjustable wattage. 

The device operates at a maximum of 25W, with the output determined by the pod you’re using (19W for the 0.6Ω pod and 15W for the 0.9Ω pod). 

However, I found that the preset wattages worked well with their respective pods. 

The device is also draw-activated, which means there are no buttons to worry about – which adds the super clean aesthetic. 

Overall, the Uwell Dillon EM’s features are thoughtfully designed for ease of use. However, some may find its feature set lacking.

Pods/Coils

The Uwell Dillon EM comes with two different pods, both of which have a 2.5ml e-liquid capacity and feature built-in, non-removable coils. 

• 0.6Ω pod rated for 19W
• 0.9Ω pod rated for 15W

I appreciate that Uwell includes both pods in the kit, allowing you to experiment with different draw styles and find the one that best suits you.

One of the most impressive aspects of the Dillon EM’s pods is the innovative EM-LOCK technology. 

So what is it?

Well, there’s an electromagnetic shield that surrounds the coil, controlling the flow of e-liquid to the wick. 

When you insert a pod and allow the wick to saturate, the shield opens and closes a few times before settling in the open position. Once you take a draw, the shield closes after about 3 seconds, preventing e-liquid from reaching the wick when not in use. 

Uwell claims this feature not only prevents leaking but also helps to maintain the freshness of your vape juice. 

I found that the EM-LOCK system worked flawlessly during my testing, with no leaks or dry hits, even when using thicker e-liquids.

You sometimes hear a slight click when the shield rotates, but it’s not bothersome. If you look at the pod, you’ll see it rotate around—it’s pretty cool.

The pods themselves are well-designed and easy to use. They are completely clear and feature a side-fill system with a sturdy rubber stopper. 

Filling the pods is a breeze, and I experienced no mess or leaks during the process. 

Also, the non-removable coils are visible within the pods, surrounded by the EM-LOCK shield, which adds a unique visual element.

Overall, the pods and coils of the Uwell Dillon EM are a highlight of the device. 

It’s also worth noting that due to the EM-LOCK, the Dillon is the ideal pod vape for flights. I took it with me on a recent flight to Barcelona, and it’s the only pod I’ve never had to worry about leaking—it stayed 100% bone dry.

This also makes it ideal for those who worry about pod vapes leaking in their bags or handbags.

Performance

The Dillon EM is a simple device, so there’s little to be excited about with its features.

However, I appreciate the subtlety and sleekness of its design and form factor.

The most important part of the Dillon EM is the pods, and they are what impressed me most.

Both pods delivered excellent flavor and vapor production.

They are so good that I would say they are maybe a slight step up from the Uwell G3 pods – and that’s saying something. 

The 0.6Ω pod, with its lower resistance and higher wattage, provides a slightly warmer vape and denser vapor, while the 0.9Ω pod gives you a cooler, more modest vape.

The 0.9Ω pod has a tight MTL draw when inserted one way and a medium MTL draw when rotated. While the 0.6Ω pod can provide a medium MTL or a loose MTL/RDL draw.

The 0.9Ω pod, in comparison to Uwell’s Caliburn G3 pods, is a slightly tighter draw with either airhole. However, it’s very minor, so if you enjoy that draw, you’ll like this.

The same could be said of the 0.6Ω, although I think it feels a little airier on the wider airhole than the comparative G3 pod.

It’s worth noting that they all provide that super smooth, non-turbulent draw that Uwell is excellent at.

The draw activation is responsive and consistent, making the device a pleasure to use throughout the day.

The longevity of the pods is also worth mentioning. During my testing, I’ve managed to get through at least 50ml of juice before noticing any significant decline in flavor or vapor production. 

So, I guess that’s a testament to the quality of the coils and the effectiveness of the EM-LOCK system in preserving the integrity of the wick and e-liquid.

I didn’t encounter a single leak or dry hit throughout my testing, even when using thicker e-liquids or leaving the device unused for extended periods – or on a flight! 

So that’s another huge tick for the EM-LOCK system.

When it comes to battery life, the Uwell Dillon EM is great. 

The 900mAh battery capacity was able to get through a full day of heavy vaping without needing to recharge. 

Even when I did need to top up the battery, the 2A Type-C charging ensured that I was back to vaping in no time – just 30 minutes from empty to full.

The Uwell Dillon EM may fall shy of other pod vapes on the market for features. However, it certainly doesn’t when it comes to performance. 

With the EM lock system, I think Uwell might be onto something great for the future of all pod vapes.

Verdict

Is the Uwell EM, with its innovative juice-locking mechanism, a game changer?

No, I think that might be a little strong. But it is incredibly innovative, and I take my hat off to Uwell for its implementation.

It also works well, helping to prolong the lifespan of your coils and guarantee a leak-free vape experience.

The pods also provide fantastic flavor and a super smooth draw.

If you like more control of your vape, the Caliburn G3 would be the better option. 

However, if you just want a compact vape that’s easy to use and has coils that last a little longer, the Uwell Dillon EM is an excellent choice.

It’s definitely the pod vape that I will be recommending to new vapers from now on.
