The OXVA XLIM CRC is a lightweight, easy-to-use pod vape that uses 1.6ml child-resistant pods with fixed coils. 

It features a 0.42″ OLED screen to display wattage, battery, and puff count. It has a power range of 5-25W, with adjustable airflow catering to MTL and RDL vaping.

It’s powered by a 900mAh battery with fast 1A USB-C charging.

OXVA includes both a 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω CRC pod in the kit so you can choose your preferred draw style. The XLIM CRC comes in a selection of 8 colors: Shiny Black Red, Shiny Silver Black, Shiny Gunmetal, Blue Green, Green Lemon, Arctic Ice, Dark Blue, and Black.

The Bottom Line

The OXVA XLIM CRC is the same device as the regular XLIM Pod, which is still an impressive device. It features an OLED screen, adjustable wattage, and adjustable airflow. The unique prospect of the CRC is the child safety-certified pods. While they only have a 1.6ml capacity, the top fill method does prevent any leaking. They also deliver fantastic flavor and have a good lifespan.

Design & Build Quality

Taking the XLIM CRC out of the box, it’s unmistakable that it’s an OXVA Xlim device.

So much so that I believe the device itself is precisely the same as the regular XLIM POD (not the Pro version). 

Measuring just 111mm tall and 24mm wide, the rectangular body has nicely curved edges for comfort. 

It’s also super light, weighing only 45g with the pod attached. This slim aluminum alloy device easily disappears into your palm or pocket.

The smooth, matte finish on the metal casing not only looks sleek but provides a subtle texture for grip. No slippery fingerprints here! 

OXVA offers the XLIM CRC in a choice of 8 colors. I’m partial to the sophisticated Black and Black/Red versions I have for review, but you can also get eye-catching Blue/Green and Green/Lemon models.

The front face keeps it simple, with a crisp rectangular LED panel at the top and an oval firing button below. Only a tiny OXVA logo discreetly adorns the bottom.

Flip the vape around to find the side airflow slider and barely noticeable Xlim engraving – clean and understated.

The significant difference with the XLIM CRC version is the new upgraded pods.

We’ll cover these in detail later. But the overriding difference is they now feature a top-fill mechanism that’s not only more leak-resistant but also more child-resistant.

Hence, the name CRC which is an abbreviation of the Child Resistant Certification that OXVA has for these pods.

There’s not much more to cover with the design of the device. We’ve already covered it in detail in our previous review of the XLIM Pod.

It’s an extremely well-built device with stylish, minimalist looks.

Features & Functions

The XLIM CRC has a built-in 900mAh battery and is packed with features for a compact pod vape.  

It has a 0.42″ OLED screen that crisply displays the battery level, puff count, resistance, and wattage setting. It’s bright and easy to read.

Speaking of wattage, you can adjust the power from a range of 5-25W by clicking the firing button 3 times. 

The output is limited based on the pod’s resistance but can be adjusted in 0.5W increments.

The XLIM CRC supports both auto-draw and manual firing with the button. 

If you press the power button 4 times, you can lock the fire button so it will only work with auto-draw

Airflow is easily adjusted via the slider to transition between a tight MTL up to a restricted DTL draw. It provides a decent range of options.

For even more flexibility, this pod mod includes both 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω resistances in the kit. Lower resistance for RDL, higher for MTL.

The XLIM CRC has the usual safety features like a 10-second cutoff and low voltage protection to keep you safe.

It supports 1A charging through the USB-C port on the base. While I would’ve liked 2A for faster charging, it does support pass-through.

CRC Pods  

The XLIM CRC comes with two proprietary CRC pods – one 0.6Ω and one 0.8Ω. They use fixed coil systems and attach via strong magnets.

The lower resistance 0.6Ω pod caters to restricted DTL vaping, while the 0.8Ω is better suited to MTL draws. It’s nice to have both options included in the kit!

There’s also a 1.2Ω version available to purchase separately for a higher resistance MTL vape.

These CRC pods only hold 1.6ml of juice – slightly less than standard pods (2ml) due to the child-lock system inside. But it’s a fair tradeoff. 

So what exactly makes them child-safe. Well, it’s the new filling mechanism.

OXVA has come up with an innovative top-fill mechanism that won’t allow the possibility to access any e-liquid even with the mouthpiece removed.

Unlike traditional top-fill pods, which have open fill holes once you pop off the mouthpiece. The CRC holes are cleverly closed off.

In order to fill the pod, you have to stick the nozzle of your bottle into one of the fill sections and press down. This forces down the spring inside and the plastic fill shelf beneath. Allowing you to squeeze juice from your bottle into the pod.

As soon as you lift your bottle nozzle from the slot, the spring pushes back into place, sealing off the fill port.

It’s also worth mentioning that pods are slightly tinted but transparent enough that you can easily see the fill level.

I have to admit when I first looked at the pod, I was a little confused about how it was filled. It’s also worth noting that it works best with slightly thicker bottle nozzles and not the small, flimsy ones you get on 10ml bottles.

I really like the mouthpiece that OXVA is using for these pods. It’s extremely easy to remove and lock into place. 

But it also has this matte, slightly rubber-coated texture to it that makes it incredibly comfortable to use.

Flavor and coil life seem on par with other OXVA pods – getting nearly 2 weeks from one pod before swapping it out.

Not surprisingly, there were no leaking or performance issues to report. The pods deliver a consistently satisfying vape until the coil starts to fade.

It’s worth noting that the CRC pods will be compatible with the standard OXVA XLIM, and the regular pods are compatible with this device.

Performance

So, how do the OXVA XLIM system and these new CRC pods actually perform? In a word – impressively!

With the 0.8Ω pod installed, I dialed the airflow down and started at 15W for an MTL vape. Instantly got a satisfyingly warm, flavorful draw with a decent throat hit.

The XLIM CRC delivers rich, accurate flavor for an MTL vape on par with some of my favorite pod systems like the Vaporesso Xros.

I prefer a tighter MTL draw, and closing the airflow down provided the type of draw I look for – as tight as it gets for a pod.

Bumping up to the 0.6Ω pod, opening the airflow, and cranking the watts up transforms this into a formidable restricted DTL/loose MTL vape too.

Don’t expect massive clouds from the XLIM CRC – the 0.6Ω coil tops out around 25W. But the vapor production and warmth of the vape impress. 

The downside here, of course, is with only 1.6ml of juice. So you’ll be regularly topping up in DTL mode.

The flavor pops even more with the lower resistance pod wide open. I can really taste all the nuances in my favorite fruity menthols.

While the vapor isn’t hot or anything, the XLIM CRC does get slightly warm with prolonged chain vaping at higher wattages.

However, I feel the XLIM and CRC pods are tailor-made for MTL vaping.

The battery life is decent but not spectacular – I got through most of an average day before needing to recharge.

But the USB-C charging is relatively speedy. I fully juiced up the 900mAh cell again in around 30 minutes.

The auto and manual firing options both worked flawlessly during testing. Very responsive with no misfires to report.

I knew the performance of the XLIM device was going to be great, as I’ve been a fan of previous models.

However, I’m equally impressed with CRC pods. They deliver the same performance as previous OXVA pods – which means fantastic flavor and excellent lifespan.

Now, with the added bonus of being leak-resistant and child-safe.

Verdict

The OXLA XLIM CRC is an excellent pod system. 

The device is exactly the same as the regular XLIM POD. So, if you already own that, there’s no need to upgrade; you can just try the CRC pods.

The device is incredibly easy to use and has all the features you need. An OLED screen, adjustable wattage, and adjustable airflow.

The CRC pods deliver the same impressive performance as the regular XLIM pods, with fantastic flavor and a good lifespan. They are just more leak-resistant.

Also, the CRC pod’s filling method means slightly less capacity (1.6ml). Still, the child-safety factor will make it worthwhile for some users. 

If you don’t already own an OXVA XLIM, the new XLIM CRC is an excellent option. It’s one of the best-performing compact pod systems on the market and now has better child-safety pods.
