The Uwell Crown X is the latest addition to Uwell’s popular Crown series of pod mod devices. 

The Crown X promises powerful performance and a robust feature set.

It’s tailored to direct-to-lung vaping with adjustable wattage up to 60W and a long-lasting 1500mAh battery.

The Crown X also has a 0.96” TFT color, adjustable airflow, and a 5.3ml capacity pod.

It comes with Uwell’s new Crown X series coils, which promise 30 days of maximum flavor. There is a 0.6Ω and 0.3Ω included in the kit.The Uwell Crown X is available in 6 colors: Black, Red, Blue, Green, Sunrise Sky, and Forest Dawn.

The Bottom Line

The Crown X is an excellent addition to the Crown range. It has a modern design with exceptional build quality. The color screen, adjustable wattage, and large 5.3ml capacity pod are great. It fires instantly with auto-draw and delivers a smooth restricted or DTL vape (not great for MTL). The real star of the Crown X is the new series coils that deliver punchy flavor and push a 30-day lifespan – highly recommended for DTL vapers.

Design & Build Quality

Uwell has always been clear with its pod system strategy: the Caliburns are the compact and slim pod vapes, and the Crown line is a bigger sibling.

I knew the Crown X would be a big boy, but I wasn’t quite expecting such a beast of a pod – it’s practically a fully-fledged vape mod.

The Crown X measures 113mm tall by 31mm wide and weighs 87.5g. I definitely had a hard time concealing it when I was vaping, and it’s noticeable in your pocket.

But with all that size comes capacity and power.

It’s also incredibly well-built. The aluminum-alloy frame has an excellent smooth metallic finish, and the buttons have a satisfying click with no rattle whatsoever.

I also like the textured finish on the fire button, making it easy to feel out in the dark.

The airflow on the side of the device is easy to adjust, and it stays in place well. It’s not a step airflow and doesn’t have the most extensive range, but it does work well for direct-to-lung ranges.

I love the large, bright 0.96” TFT color display on the front panel. There’s no way to adjust the brightness, but it’s visible in daylight, and all the data is presented modernly.

The pods for the Crown X are magnetic and connect well to the device with no excessive wobbling. There’s the typical Uwell window cutout to see when you’ll be at minimum juice level.

The USB-C port for charging the 1500mAh internal battery is on the base of the device.

Overall, the Crown X design and build quality are excellent. It’s what I’ve come to expect from Uwell and the Crown line. 

While it may be an oversized pod device that’s aimed solely at direct-to-lung vaping – it still has a sleek, classy, and modern design.

Features & Functions

The Uwell Crown X comes with a relatively simple but effective feature set.

The chief among them is the staggering 60W max output – which is pretty unprecedented for a pod device. 

The 0.96” TFT color display is great to have on such a device. It displays your current wattage, voltage, battery status, puff count, current firing mode, and coil resistance.

The Crown X will set the wattage according to the resistance of the coil attached, but it is fully adjustable.

It features manual firing and auto-draw, with options to lock buttons.

To operate the Crown X is incredibly simple:

• On/Off = 5 Clicks of the fire button
• Firing Mode (lock buttons) = 2 Clicks of the fire button (rotates through locking the fire button for only draw activation or locking both firing modes)
• Adjust Wattage = 3 Clicks of the fire button. Then, each click increases by 1W increments.
• Clear Puff Count = 4 Clicks of the fire button 

The Crown X also has a Boost mode. This is only available when you use the 0.3Ω coil. You basically increase the wattage to 60W, and it will give you that initial boost of 60W, then step down to the recommended 45W.

The device comes with an in-built 1500mAh battery. It is rechargeable via USB-C at a 2A charge rate.

The Uwell Crown X also comes with all the safety protections you’d expect, such as low voltage, overheating, and 10-second cut-off. 

Pods/Coils

There are two versions of pods available for the Crown X. 

In the EU/TPD areas, it comes with a 2ml top fill pod.

We have the US (international) version, which has a huge 5.3ml capacity. 

It has a side-fill port for filing. It’s a giant rubber plug that’s easy to open and close and has a large fill port.

Included are two of Uwell’s new Crown X series coils that feature ‘Pro-FOCS Flavor Technology.’ 

Uwell claims they are long-lasting and can deliver up to 30 days of optimal flavor – more on this later.

The two coils included are:

• 0.3Ω mesh coil – 40-45W range
• 0.6Ω mesh coil – 20-25W range

As previously mentioned, the 0.3Ω can also be used at 60W for a power boost.

The X series coils are push-fit and easy to line up to the pod’s base and remove.

Performance  

I can’t really fault the Crown X during my time using and testing it.

The Crown X is solely a direct-to-lung and restricted DTL device. As long as you bear that in mind, you will love it.

I did attempt to do MTL vaping with the 0.6Ω coil, and the airflow closed off. But it wasn’t great, and the mouthpiece is far too large for that type of vaping.

If you want an MTL pod vape, go for the Caliburn G3. 

If you want a pod that can chuck out flavorful clouds – the Crown X is a no-brainer.

Both the 0.3Ω and 0.6Ω coils deliver excellent flavor.

Uwell really seems to have stepped up their game when it comes to the performance of their coils.

I tested the 0.3Ω with a 70VG (3mg) juice, and it never faltered once. The flavor was pronounced from start to finish, and the draw was incredibly smooth.

I mainly ran the 0.3Ω coil with the wide-open airflow; let me tell you, it can really chuck some clouds!

It runs great at 45W. 

But if you want to be more adventurous and crank it up to 60W for that extra boost, it does deliver a punchier vape.

I honestly can’t think of another pod vape of this size that can deliver that much power!

However, I actually preferred using the 0.6Ω coil (with a 6mg strength).

It still delivers excellent flavor. And when it’s set to 25W with the airflow slightly open – it’s the perfect restricted lung draw.

It’s also far less draining on the 1500mAh battery.

And that’s my one real gripe with the Crown X. 

The battery efficiency is good. But for the size, I would’ve liked it to have a larger capacity – especially for high-wattage vaping.

It’s only 500mAh more than the Caliburn G3 and a damn sight thicker!

Even the Vaporesso Luxe X Pro manages to fit in a 1500mAh battery in a more compact body.

That being said, the Crown X can really go some if you want to push the power for optimal clouds.

The auto-draw works seamlessly with either coil and even with the airflow wide open.

There’s no real difference between the manual firing and auto-draw, which is excellent.

As for the new ‘Pro-FOCS Flavor Technology’ in these X series coils – well, it seems to be working great.

I’m currently on day 22 with both coils, and they are running like new. The flavor is still crisp and clean, and I’ve not had a sign of a dry or burnt hit yet.

The one caveat here is I’ve mainly been testing with Passionfruit Raspberry Yuzu by PachaMama, which is a relatively clean juice.

I’ll have to run some juices that are full of sweeteners to see if they can make the claimed 30 days. 

Then, I’ll report back and update this review.

Other than the battery capacity. I really can’t fault the Crown X for its performance. It really is a standout pod vape for high-wattage vapers.

Verdict

The Uwell Crown X delivers a superb direct-to-lung vaping experience.

It outperforms most vape pod kits with its power and excellent coil longevity.

It’s easy to operate, has excellent build quality, and a decent modern design.

Both coils deliver excellent flavor, and the draw from the device is instant and smooth – even with auto draw firing.

I wish the battery capacity was a little larger, but it’s still relatively efficient – especially with the 0.6Ω coil.

It’s unsuitable for anyone looking for a compact or MTL pod kit. But for those who want a pod for DTL vaping – the Crown X has just taken the Crown!
