GeekVape Frenzy vs. Smok Trinity Alpha
Smok has been pretty prolific when it comes to releasing AIO/Pod vapes with some not quite hitting the mark, and others like the Nord or Trinity Alpha having a lot of success.
GeekVape conversely has just released their first pod system, and to quite some fanfare I might add, as it’s getting some excellent reviews across the board (including our very own).
However, deciding between the GeekVape Frenzy and Smok Trinity Alpha may come down to your specific requirements in a vape device.
So we’ll try our best to guide you through the choice. Firstly let’s have a look at what they have to offer.
The Smok Trinity Alpha comes with an in-built 1000mAh battery, a 2.8ml capacity pod and utilizes the Nord Mesh coils, with a 0.6ohm (DTL) and 0.8ohm (MTL) included.
It also has variable output modes with 3 settings; Soft, Normal, Hard.
The GeekVape Alpha features a 950mAh in-built battery, a 2ml capacity pod and utilizes the NS coil range, with a 0.7ohm Mesh (DTL) and a 1.2ohm SS316 MTL included.
It too has variable output modes with 3 settings but also offers Temp Control for the higher Ohm SS316 MTL coil.

Verdict
It was quite a unanimous win for the GeekVape Frenzy in our opinion. However, the Smok Trinity Alpha still puts up a fight, and will definitely be suited to certain types of vapers.
Starting with the design, it’s no contest; the Frenzy is the more compact, more aesthetically pleasing device. It also has far superior build quality and just feels all round more premium than the Trinity Alpha.
The Trinity Alpha does edge it on capacity, being able to hold an extra 0.8ml of juice. But that juice might not last long in comparison to the Frenzy when it’s set up with the 1.2ohm coil in MTL. Either way, we’ll give this one to Smok just based on specs alone.
When it comes to features, both offer adjustable power, but the fact the GeekVape Frenzy has a Temp Control mode for the 1.2ohm coil, with automatic detection is a huge bonus.
However, the more significant feature that hands the win to the Frenzy is adjustable airflow. In fact, it’s equally shocking and disappointing that Smok still doesn’t implement adjustable airflow in their pod systems.
Both devices are comparable when it comes to battery life, at 1000mAh for the Trinity Alpha and 950mAh for the Frenzy. Ultimately this one is going to come down to which coils you are using, and whether it’s DTL or MTL. The Frenzy will certainly go that extra mile in TC mode with the 1.2ohm coil, which is something to consider. But in DTL it’s a close call – so we’ll call this one a draw.
Currently, both devices are great value for money, and you can pick them up along with replacement coils at a similar price point – Draw.
Overall there’s no question that the Geekvape Frenzy is the more versatile and better quality device. It’s also the only choice if you are primarily a mouth-to-lung vaper.
However, for direct-to-lung, it’s a more challenging choice. Both offer a restricted DTL vape, the Frenzy being the most restrictive even with its adjustable airflow.
So we think the only reason you should go with the Trinity Alpha over the Frenzy is if you prefer a looser DTL vape.
Otherwise, the GeekVape Frenzy is easily the best choice.
