The PRTBL Nando is a premium 510-thread battery designed to cater to the needs of 510 cartridge users.

It is the flagship product of PRTBL, a company founded by Nick T, who also created PCKT and designed all of the hardware.

The Nando boasts various features, including a 700mAh battery with four voltage outputs, customizable LED brightness, and haptic feedback.

It’s compatible with almost all top and bottom airflow 510 cartridges, and we will test it with PRTBL’s own FLO 510 dual ceramic coil cartridge.

The Nando comes with a 1-year limited warranty and is available in 5 colors: Maui (green), Slate (black), Sonoma (brown), Monterey (blue), and Paradox (purple).

Design & Style

As soon as you get the PRTBL Nando in your hand, you can feel the premium quality of the device.

It’s CNC machined from a solid block of 6061 aluminum, so it has a quality construction feel. However, the excellent finish of the paintwork makes it look fantastic and feel delightfully tactile with its matte (sandblasted) texture.

The Nando sits 73mm tall, 35mm wide, and 17mm thick, which are the perfect palm-able dimensions. In addition, it’s relatively lightweight, despite its premium construction, coming in at 65g (without a cartridge attached).

The Nando has the PTBL logo engraved on the device’s front side, with the fire button sitting towards the bottom. Otherwise, it’s an immaculate and sleek design.

The fire button has quite a unique shape to it and is entirely surrounded by an LED light – more on this later.

The USB-C port for charging is neatly tucked away on the base of the device to keep things looking clean.

The Nando is available in 5 colors: Maui (green), Slate (black), Sonoma (brown), Monterey (blue), and Paradox (purple). We have the Monterey and Maui in for review, and I love both of them.

The colors are deep and rich. They add to the overall elegant look of the 510 devices – trust me, they are even better looking in person than our photos can convey.

PRTBL has done a fantastic job with its first flagship device. The build quality is exceptional, and they feel and look so premium.

I was hoping not to make too much comparison with the PCKT products, but there’s no escaping from the fact that PRTBL Nando feels just like one – and that’s a good thing.

In fact, I’d go as far as saying that thanks to its form factor, the Nando is better in hand than the PCKT VRCTL and TWO that we recently reviewed.

Right, that’s enough of the comparisons for now. Next, let’s delve into the features of the Nando.

PRTBL-Nando-4

Features

The PRTBL Nando has an inbuilt 700mAh battery and four output voltage levels (2.4V, 2.8V, 3.0V, and 3.4V).

It features an LED light to show the device status, along with haptic feedback. It can be fired using the button or through auto-inhale.

The Nando also allows you to customize the LED brightness and haptic feedback.

That’s quite an extensive feature list. The only thing it’s missing is a pre-heat function.

Operating the Nando is relatively straightforward:

  • On/Off = 5 clicks of the fire button
  • Check Battery Status = 1 Click (when the device is on).
  • Change Voltage Preset = 2 Clicks (when the device is on), and Press once to select.
  • Change LED brightness = 3 Clicks to enter the menu, click and hold to confirm.
  • Haptic Feedback Power = 4 Clicks to enter the menu, click and hold to confirm.

The preset voltage levels are as follows:

  • 2.4V Low = Blue LED
  • 2.8V Medium Low= Green LED
  • 3.0V Medium High = Orange LED
  • 3.4V High = Red LED

The PRTBL has a magnetic 510 attachment that you attach to your cartridge and then drop into the device.

The connection is relatively strong and won’t accidentally come loose. In addition, it can handle all types of cartridges with top and bottom airflow.

However, those slightly short in length may require you to purchase the longer adapter kit – which is sold separately.

Battery & Charging

The Nando supports Type-C quick charging to top up the large 700mAh built-in battery. As a result, it can charge completely in approximately 40 minutes.

The LED ring surrounding the button indicates the battery life status:

  • Green = 66-100%
  • Yellow = 33-66%
  • Red = less than 33%

The device can last for more than two full-gram cartridges on a single charge if you keep the brightness and vibration intensity at their lowest levels and use the Green (2.8V) or Orange (3.0V) outputs.

The Nando has a nice, high-quality braided USB-C cable included in the kit.

It also has pass-through charging, allowing you to use it while recharging.

PRTBL FLO 510 Cartridge

The PRTBL Nando can be purchased alone to use with your own cartridges or with one of PRTBL’s FLO 510 cartridges.

The FLO 510 cartridges feature a CNC machined mouthpiece with a 1ml capacity with a 1.4Ω coil.

They use dual ceramic coils that can wick even the thickest concentrates efficiently.

The cartridges attach magnetically to the Nando but only just protrude enough with the included adapter. You can use it, but it’s very tight.

You’ll be best suited to purchasing the taller adapter for use with the FLO 510 cartridges.

I really like the build quality of the FLO 510. It pairs perfectly with the Nando. The mouthpiece is also extremely comfortable to use.

Performance

In terms of performance, the PRTBL Nando is absolutely flawless.

The internals and experience of the device match entirely the premium aesthetics. Everything from pressing the fire button to the haptic feedback is on point.

The power delivery in each voltage setting feels right, and the auto-inhale also works every time without a hitch.

I tried the Nando with several different 510 cartridges, and it had no compatibility issues with any of them.

The battery life was also great throughout my time testing the device. The quick 40-minute charge time and pass-through vaping meant I was never without my vape.

However, my first slight negative against the whole kit is that I wish they had included the taller magnetic adapter in the kit. Even the FLO 510 works best with the adapter. Without it, you end up with your mouth too close or over the device and not the mouthpiece.

The only other subjective negative against the Nando is the lack of a pre-heat function.

I don’t tend to use them much. If I have a thicker oil, I just press the fire button a little bit before and heat it manually. However, I think for such a premium device stacked full of features, it’s an omission that might disappoint some vapers.

The PRTBL FLO 510 cartridges are an excellent match for the Nando; they deliver a smooth and enjoyable vaping experience with their dual ceramic coils.

I tested with various consistencies. The FLO 510 handles thicker oils and concentrates really well, and the flavor and hit from the ceramic coils are excellent.

I’m seriously impressed with PRTBL’s new flagship offering. I used to daily drive the PCKT VRTCL, and the Nando’s have now almost certainly replaced it.

I know PRTBL gives you a 1-year warranty when you purchase the device, but I really don’t think you’re going to need it.

The build quality is so good I doubt much would go wrong, and I’m sure once you get your hands on one, you won’t want to let it go…I know I won’t. That’s how much I love these little Nando babies!

PRTBL-Nando-9

Verdict

Overall, the PRTBL Nando is a well-designed and feature-rich 510 battery that is suitable for a wide range of users.

Its sleek and compact design, coupled with customizable features and haptic feedback, make it a strong contender in the market.

The device’s compatibility with a variety of cartridges and its solid battery life are also major selling points. The only thing it lacks is a pre-heat function, but that is not a necessity for most vapers.

The FLO 510 is also an equally impressive companion, delivering an excellent vape experience, also in a stylish package.

The PRTBL Nando has already gone to the top of my list of favorite devices of 2023. It is a reliable and high-quality option worth considering for those in the market for a new 510 battery.
