Aspire are one of the most prolific companies when it comes to starter kits, and their latest entry is somewhat out of the left field.
Not because it’s a vape pen style pod system, but because it’s a closed system with pre-filled pods.
Every other pod system or AIO kit Aspire has released to date, was either with replaceable coils or refillable pods.
The pods hold 1.8ml of liquid and according to Aspire will be available pre-filled with some of the most popular E-liquid brand suppliers.
The pods themselves have a regular NiChrome coil with a 1.2-Ohm resistance that is connected to the pod, but you still have to push it into the pod to activate it and let it saturate.
The device itself features a 1000mAh battery with a direct output, so power will diminish from 3.8V to 3.5V as the battery drains.
There is an LED indicator light to display the battery capacity remaining, with Red, Blue and Green lights.
The Slym also features all the safety protection of Automatic Cut-off, Short Circuit, Low Voltage, Overcharge, and Over Heat Protection.
There’s also an optional carry case that can be purchased separately that will store your device along with 3 pods.
The Aspire Slym Kit is available in 3 color options – Black, Silver, and Rose Gold.
I guess it’s not too much of a strange decision from Aspire to go after a piece of the closed system pie, after all, their devices tend to offer far better performance than most on the market.
The success of the Slym is going to come down to the flavor options and how readily available they are going to be. Which I’m sure Aspire will cover well, as they usually have excellent distribution of their products.
I really like the look of the device, it’s a simple and non-obtrusive design which will appeal to most, and the carry case it’s pretty sweet also.
Judging by the way the coils are inserted into the pods, and in some of their marketing pictures, it may be a case that they release refillable pods with replaceable coils later down the line.
I really hope this is the case. That way vapers get the best of both worlds. I know pre-filled pods are great for beginners and people who like the ease of use and less mess. However, being able to transition into using your own liquid at a lower price would be a good move for new vapers.
