Geekvape Obelisk Z Kit | Preview

What is it?

The Geekvape Obelisk Z Kit includes the Obelisk 120 FC mod and the Z (Zeus) Sub Ohm Tank.

There is some mention on social media of an Obelisk sub-ohm tank also appearing further down the line. Eventually, it might be available as a full kit – we will update this post with details.

There’s no denying that this kit’s main selling point and impressive feature is the lightning fast-charging of the Obelisk 120 FC mod.

Geekvape claims it’s the ‘World’s first vape with safe fast charging,’ although we have seen similar tech before in the recent Vapx Meteor.

Why is it so impressive? Well, you can charge the 3700mAh from flat to full in just 15 minutes via the USB-PD Power Adapter.

I believe it can also be charged via a standard USB Type-C at 2A, but there’s no mention of charge time like that.

So what is a PD charger?

Well, it’s the same tech found in most of the latest high-wattage mobile phone chargers, allowing you to safely output a higher charge rate to the device. 

This is only possible as it works in conjunction with Geekvape’s chipset.

Geekvape states the charging temperature will never exceed 45.8 ° C, always remaining cool and safe. (It’s a GV Lab test result. The practical charging temperature is related to ambient temperature.)

Basically, with the balance between the upgraded chip and the USB-PD adapters, less heat will reach the Obelisk 120 FC.

That’s not the only trick this charging system has up its sleeve.

Fast charging systems (PD 2.0, 3.0, and QC 2.0, 3.0, 4.0) also allow a two-way flow of power. This means the Obelisk 120 FC can also work as a ‘Power Bank’ for other devices. This is called OTG (On The Go) Reverse charging, with the USB-C port outputting power anytime you need it.

All of that sounds impressive but wouldn’t be useful if the Obelisk mod drained power quickly.

However, Geekvape also claims the 3700mAh gives you ultra-long battery life and can last up to 2 days’ worth of use!

So what about the regular vaping features of the device?

Well, it has a 0.96in color display with a power range of 5-120W.

It includes Variable Wattage, Temperature Control (Stainless Steel), TCR, and Bypass modes. Along with a VPC mode, which we assume is for a Custom Curve setup.

The included Z sub-ohm tank comes in either a 5ml or 2ml capacity version (TPD regulated). 

It features an adjustable airflow inlet on the top of the tank to eliminate any leakage, along with a top fill port.

The Geekvape Obelisk Z Kit is available in 4 colors: Blue, Silver, Black, and Gunmetal.

Who is it for?

Vapers who want a powerful device with an inbuilt battery capable of super fast-charging.

The first thing that struck me about the Obelisk 120 FC mod wasn’t the unbelievably impressive charge speeds but actually the stylish simplistic design.

I think the mod is one of the best-looking devices Geekvape has released; it looks extremely modern and clean.

The one thing I love about the latest phones is that you can get a full charge while you’re getting ready in the morning. So the fact that Geekvape has managed to use the same tech and get the 3700mAh battery charged in 15 minutes is remarkably impressive – I’m already sold on that alone.

However, when you also factor in the claims of 2-day battery life and the fact the Geekvape mods always have excellent performance – the Obelisk Z Kit looks to be an absolute winner.
