The Vaporesso Gen Air 40 is the newest entry into the popular “Gen” family.
The Vaporesso Gen range primarily started as box mods style devices like the Gen S or Gen X but has slowly ventured into the starter kit market with the Gen Fit.
The Gen Air 40 is Vaporesso’s first foray into pod kits with the Gen name.
The Gen Air 40 mod features an in-built 1800mAh battery which supports fast charging at a rate of 2.5A through its USB Type C port.
The device has an output range of 5-40W, but it will be dependent on the resistance of the pod/coil attached.
There are four power levels to select from 3V, 3.2V, 3.4V, and 3.6V, so you can tailor the heat of your vape a little.
The Gen Air 40 doesn’t have a screen. Instead, there are 4 LED indicator lights to show battery status and voltage setting.
It is powered by Vaporesso’s Axon chipset that we’ve seen in all of the Gen line, so performance should be on par.
The pod that comes with the Gen Air 40 has a 4.5ml capacity (2ml TPD) and features a side-fill port and airflow adjustment.
It utilizes Vaporesso’s GTX coil range, and there is a 0.4Ω Mesh and 0.8Ω Mesh coil included in the kit.
The Vaporesso Gen Air 40 is available in 7 color options: Dark Black, Matte Grey, Light Silver, Midnight Blue, Aurora Green, Twilight Gold, and Sakura Pink.

Our Vibe
While it’s interesting to see Vaporesso extend the Gen range into pod kits, there’s nothing too exciting about the Gen Air 40.
I’m sure it will do a stellar job for what it set out to do as a stripped-back, simple pod system.
The fact it uses GTX coils which deliver good performance and has fully adjustable airflow and more than ample juice and battery capacity is great.
However, I feel that with so many other great pod systems on the market that are more feature-rich, it might fall a little short.
I guess it will depend on how affordable the Gen Air 40 is compared to those other pod systems.
