Smok RPM160 Kit | Preview

The Smok RPM 160 Kit is the latest in the RPM range from SMOK, which includes the RPM40, RPM80, and RPM80 Pro.

Even from the outset, it is easy to see that the RPM160 is a different kind of beast. In fact, as a pod kit, it’s a beastly size.

The RPM160 utilizes two single 18650 batteries (much like the Artery Nugget GT). It’s at this point that these devices are more like box mods than pod mods or small AIO’s, which is a little crazy.

The device itself will feature variable wattage between 1-160W, and there’s no indication of different power modes at present, but I’m sure SMOK will include some adjustable features there.

The RPM60 will utilize the SMOK’s latest chipset, the IQ-160 which is a higher-powered version of the previous RPM chips

As you’d expect with a device of this size, it comes with a sizeable 0.96in color TFT screen. This is positioned along with the adjustment buttons and the fire button on the front of the device.

There’s also a micro-USB port for charging, but nothing stated about the charge rate, but we would expect pass-through to feature.

This kit comes with two different pods, both of which have a 5ml capacity and are refillable. There are also two different coils for the included pods:

• RGC pod – compatible with RGC coil range – 0.17ohm conical mesh coil included.
• RPM pod – compatible with the RPM coil range – 0.4ohm RPM mesh coil included.

There is also an option for an RBA coil head for both of the coil ranges.

The pods also feature an adjustable airflow collar on the base. But that’s about all the information we have at this stage.

The SMOK RPM160 will be available in 6 colors; Black, Silver, Gold, Blue, Red, and Rainbow.

It’s no surprise that we are seeing another device from SMOK in the RPM line, and it’s also no surprise that it’s hot on the heels of the Artery Nugget GT.

While the RPM160 does offer great capacity with the 5ml juice and ability to use two single 18650’s, I can’t help but feel it’s a very small niche of vaper that would choose this style of the device over the use of a standard box mod.

There’s nothing innovative or unique here, but I guess it could be a reasonably portable device for the power-hungry vaper.
